User:Bournemouth Uni Complaints

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bournemouth University Complaints procedure has finally been brought into the open after a long drawn out legal dispute whereby the system from start to finish (from Uni internal procedures, through OIA, MP and the legal system) horribly delayed a student until the case against the University was statute barred. Having taken this to the highest level ( the Bar and legal services ombudsman) the student discovered that what happened is 'standard university' procedure. By making a public example of the Universities unfair and biased system, the student hopes to bring about a fairer deal for students who are let down or damaged by their University. Universities are bound by a 'duty of care' but as yet there is nothing in place to ensure they abide by their obligations. Under the present system a student may well find they have no rights at all and the legal system will not be supportive in their case against the establishment. The student maintains that University staff should be held personally responsible for their actions and that matters should be corrected in favour of the student, should difficulties arise through staff failing to follow regulations. The student also insisted on copies of personal and academic records held at the University to find they were 'inaccurate' and potentially damaging. The DPA was not helpful in resolving this matter even though further evidence could be provided whereby the University had wrongfully circulated another student's personal details. There is evidence to show that Bournemouth University created false records about a student as a means of terminating their academic career, because the university 'could not provide adequate supervision'.
