Note[edit]

This page exists solely as a list of articles for processing to cleanup references which use a CS1/CS2 cite template with the parameter |url=https://web.archive.org. I do that by feeding these lists to Citation bot.

In most cases, Citation bot can reformat the cite by extracting the original URL from the archive link. See e.g. this bot edit:

  • old cite: {{cite news|first=Chris|last= Horrie|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20080405235125/http://www.independent.co.uk/news/media/revealed-the-fascist-past-of-the-daily-mirror-735366.html |title=Revealed: the fascist past of the Daily Mirror|newspaper=The Independent|date=11 November 2003}}
  • new cite: {{cite news|first=Chris|last= Horrie|url=http://www.independent.co.uk/news/media/revealed-the-fascist-past-of-the-daily-mirror-735366.html |title=Revealed: the fascist past of the Daily Mirror|newspaper=The Independent|date=11 November 2003|archive-url= https://web.archive.org/web/20080405235125/http://www.independent.co.uk/news/media/revealed-the-fascist-past-of-the-daily-mirror-735366.html|archive-date= 5 April 2008}}

The lists have no significance other than as selections for cleanup. In the vast majority of cases, these are articles in which I have no interest other than fixing these references.

Selection[edit]

This first test set is selected using a wiki search: insource:/\<ref[^\>]*\>\s*\{\{\s*cite ?(web|news)\s*[^\}\{\<\>]*\|\s*url\s*=\s*https?:\/\/web\.archive\.org/i

Note that the search above uses regular expressions (regex). Don't try using this method unless you are comfortable using regex.

Updates[edit]

Please note that this page is updated with a new list after a batch has been started to be processed, and sometimes before it has finished processing. So if you have come to this page after it is mentioned in an edit summary, please note that the current version of this page may not be the one used for that series of edits. For earlier versions, see this page's history.
