War memorial in Mafra

This war memorial consists of three statues (shown here) with inscriptions on three sides and a carved crossbow on the front. In front of the statues, and not seen here, is an array of marker-type memorials with carved regimental badges dedicated to specific battles and wars in Portuguese history which are named on each one. From left to right, the statues are a conquistador, a soldier of the Napoleonic Peninsular War, and a soldier from World War I. There are 20 markers arrayed in front of the statues, ten on either side.
