Hey Monday is an American four-piece power pop/pop punk band from West Palm Beach, Florida, formed in 2007.

History[edit]

Vocalist Cassadee Pope

After graduating high school, Cassadee Pope formed the band Blake with good Friend Mike Gentile, Blake was about to get signed, but; the band fell apart before this was made possible. Mike and Cassadee still wanted to stay in the music industry so Cassadee and Mike got together with Elliot James, Alex Lipshaw, and Jersey Moriarty forming Hey Monday. .[1] Alex Wilhelm of A&R Website CrazedHits.com then discovered the band while they were in the process of being signed to Columbia Records.[2][3] Their debut album Hold on Tight was released worldwide on October 7, 2008 via Decaydance and Columbia Records.[4][5] Their first single from the album, "Homecoming", was featured on the CitizensFOB mix-tape Welcome to the New Administration. Lead singer Cassadee was also featured in the song "Take My Hand" by The Cab on the mixtape. Cassadee made an appearance in Fall Out Boy's video America's Suitehearts. She has a guest appearance as herself in the Degrassi: The Next Generation TV Movie, Degrassi Goes Hollywood along with Pete Wentz. The song "Should've Tried Harder" appears on the videogame Major League Baseball 2K9. A part of their song, "Homecoming", appears during a Girls Next Door commercial on E!.

On Friday October, 9th 2009 it was annouced via Cassadee Pope's Twitter and through the band's journal on friendsorenemies.com that Elliot James has decided to leave the band, and they all wish him the best of luck. They also added that their good friend Patrick McKenzie would be playing drums for them on the Glamour Kills Tour but no official replacement has been annouced yet.

Tours[edit]

The group first started touring in San Antonio, Texas on the Why So Serious Tour which featured The Cab, This Providence, and A Rocket To The Moon on September 11, 2008. Starting October 1, 2008 they toured with The Academy Is..., We the Kings and Carolina Liar, on the Bill and Trav's Bogus Journey Tour to support the release of their debut album.[6] Hey Monday supported Fall Out Boy throughout 2009 on their tour, which took place in the U.K. and many parts of mainland Europe, as well as Japan, Singapore, Philippines, Malaysia, Australia and New Zealand. Hey Monday also performed in the Believers Never Die Part Deux tour through April and May 2009, touring with Fall Out Boy, Cobra Starship, All Time Low, and Metro Station. In May 2009, Hey Monday were the main support act for We The Kings on their UK tour. The band recently performed at the 2009 Bamboozle show in East Rutherford, New Jersey.[7] On April 30, the band annouced on their official Myspace page that they would be going on their first headlining tour called the "Let's Make a Mess Tour", sponsored by Myspace Music. The tour will take place in June/July 9 and will be produced and managed by PTC Entertainment. (PTC is the same company that played a significant part on the recent Believers Never Die tour). The tour's supporting bands will be This Providence, The Friday Night Boys, Stereo Skyline, and The Bigger Lights. In Late September and early October Hey Monday will have a small headlining tour in the UK. Recently Hey Monday announced they'll be touring with All Time Low, We the Kings, and the Friday Night Boys for the Glamour Kills Tour which will last all fall.
