The Pirana Dargah is located in Pirana Village which is about 18 kilometers away from the city Ahmedabad. The other name of Pirana Dargah is Imam Shah Bawa Dargah. The Pirana Dargah is believed to be founded 550 years ago. The Dargah is famous for it's ancient shrine of Hajarat Pir Imamuddin Shah Bawa. The ancient shrine draws the attention of many followers from all over Gujarat. There are hindu followers known as "Satyapanthis" and muslim followers are called as "Saiyeds"[1].Many people visits this shrine every year. Lunch and dinner facilities are available for all the visitors of Dargah. The dargah also organize events like Sandal Ceremony[2]. It is also said that all 18 communities who lives in Pirana Village belongs to different religions and castes and are devotees of Imam Shah Bawa. The priests there are in charge of the main tomb are also claimed that they are Hindus. Also, there is a Hundu syllable Om sign which is painted on different places on the walls[3]

Imam shah bava originated from Multan which is located in pakistan,he was joined by an uncommon adherent named Abdurrahim who was a child of Iran's King Imamshah bava offered Name to Abdurrahim as "HajarBeg,because he would never leave Imamshah bava even in the toughest circumstance. He would always stay by his side. Imamshah baba's Father name was Pir kabiruddin whom's Dargah is situated in Multan(pakistan).Imamshah bava had 17 siblings.

saiyed imam-ud-din[edit]

Satpanthis are people who live in villages of Gujarat like Pirana village near Ahmedabad. Satpanth is a sub category of Nizari Ismailism and Ismaili Sufism.

People of Satpanth includes high caste of Lohana, Rajputs, merchants, Kadva patel's of farming caste and some migrates from Madhya Pradesh, Punjab and Rajasthan. Small amount of these followers are in Jalgoan, Nandurbar, and Dhule districts. Mostly, Sathpanth followers are Hindus who make Islamism and hinduism a unique place to worship together. Approximately this sect's member includes 85% of Hindu caste and 15% of muslims.

Currently, head of Sathpanth is Sri Nanakdasji Maharaj who transformed this stream and converted into Gujarat's Muslim sect.

Belief[edit]

Mureeds are called as Satpanth's followers. Mureeds believe that physical form of Imam is a Noor or a eternal light. This is considered as a word of real Imam. Satpanth followers believe in Nurani Didar, which means that it is a vision of light.

The Dargah is open every day. It is open from 3.30 AM to 6.00 PM. There is facility of lunch and dinner for visitors along with waiting or living room facility.

The Pirana Daragh is a pearl white Islamic shrine. All other shrines have a green flag on their top while Pirana has a white flag on its top, which is an indicator of peace. While entering in the village and travelling towards the dargah, we find a big watch tower with an "OM" sign on its top, which is the sacred sign of Hindus. While entering the dargah, we find a plate hanging in the dargah which has a sign of "OM" engraved on it. The priests in the dargah are also Hindus. The premises of dargah consists of both- Hindu temple as well as the dargah with the shrine of Hazrat Immamshah Bawa.

Beliefs[edit]

The Pirana Dargah has a divine stone. The priests of the dargah believe that ths stone is a wish completer. They say that by sitting on the stone, we should pray to Imam Sahib telling him our wish and asking him to fulfill our wish and rotate our body. only males are allowed to sit on this stone and so women have to tell their wish to any male.

The devotees coming to Pirana are chained at their feet. It is believed that while the devotees are chained, they need to close their eyes and pray while walking toward the sufi saint's tomb. If your wish is going to be fulfilled in few days then the chain will break down in the first few steps only. If the chain does not break in few steps then your wish will not be granted inn few days, it will take a long time.

Controversy[edit]

One of the controversies is that the priests who were incharge of the main tomb which was of Hajarat Imam Shah and his son Mohommad Shah claimed that he was hindu. It was said that when the people who visited the dargah after bowing down to the tomb  when came out a man who was dressed in white clothes would put a tilak on their forehead of saffron colour which is put by hindus when they worship. Apart from this there was another thing that Om which is a symbol for hindus was written on the wall at many different places of the dargah. A holy place was build for Pir imam shah after his death. After making a shrine they also marked the place where pir imam shah bawa used to sleep and it also had pictures of hindu gods and built a holy place and a graveyard and a mosques to offer him respect. The court has given the orders that government would take care of that place. There was a talk that the handwritten Quran by Pir imam shah which used to lie besides the tomb once disappeared. There was no clue that where the Quran went. After some problems they renamed the dargah to 'Prerna Pith' or ' Samadhi mandir' It was also said that a wire was used as a fence to seperate the Pir's tomb from masjid by the satpanthi administration
