Balance and Composure is an American alternative rock band from Doylestown, Pennsylvania.[2] They formed in the winter of 2007, after the breakup of two local Doylestown bands.[3] The band's music is often suggested having similarities to Title Fight, Brand New, and Nirvana.[4] They've released three studio albums and five EPs since their inception. Their second album The Things We Think We're Missing reached number 51 on the Billboard 200, number 10 on the Independent Albums, number 13 on the Modern Rock/Alternative Albums and number 16 on the Rock Albums charts.[5]

History[edit]

2007-2011: The Early Years[edit]

The band formed in 2007, years after all members had met each other in high school.[6] They chose the name from lyrics in the song "War" by OutKast [7]

They self-released their first EP I Just Want to Be Pure in 2008 with 6 tracks total.[8] Then, in 2009, they put out Only Boundaries on No Sleep Records.[9]

2011-2013: Seperation[edit]

2013-2016: The Things We Think We're Missing[edit]

While on tour with Title Fight, the band was in a car accident. The accident totaled their van and trailer full of gear. For a year and a half the band didn't tour or play music together, eventually starting back up again.[10]

In 2014, they went on tour with Manchester Orchestra [11][12]

2016-Current: Light We Made[edit]

The band headlined a U.S. tour with From Indian Lakes and Queen of Jeans.[13]
