The Lutzberg is a 322,0 m tall elevation and is located on the Southwestbeach of the Böller inside of the Wartburgkreis in Thüringen.[1]
The Lutzberg was already cleared High Middle Ages and has been used for Agriculture ever since. The Mountain together withthe adjacent Kolmischer Berg to the west were the Borders of Gerstengaus. On its side runs one of the most Important Old streets which goes trough the Eisenacher Grund, which proceeds across the Weiler Lutzberg and continues to Unterellen, she used a Furtstelle near the Wüstung Steinau opposite to the Werraufer and stood under the protection of the only 5 kilometers away Brandenburg.
After the reunion the historic couse of the Sallmannshäuser Rennsteig was reconstructed as an Wanderins trail (Mark S). With help from the Thüringer forestry Gerstungen-Markstuhl multiple shelters and resting places were created.
