Who I Am

I am self-employed, nearing retirement, and living near Ottawa, the capital of Canada. I earn my living as a musician, web designer, sound engineer, recording engineer and concert promoter. I play guitar, banjo and dobro. I graduated in computer science from Algonquin College in 1992. My programming these days is mostly for websites requiring knowledge of php, javascript, xhtml, css3, and sql. Increasingly I use Wordpress for Content Management.

Why I joined Wikipedia

I am a new contributor to Wikipedia. Whenever searching for basic, reliable information, I go first to any Wikipedia entries that emerge. I wish to pay that goodwill forward and contribute where I am able.

What impresses me most

In reviewing the copious guidelines for contributors, I am impressed by the scholarly, uber-journalistic approach required. The world has more than enough opinionated content, and our mainstream media no longer present neutral, factual reports.

My first contribution

My first contribution will an entry for my father, /Rev. John Hanly Morgan. This is admittedly a conflict of interest but he is referenced on several other entries. Since no biography for him exists here, I am hoping this omission can be corrected. I have reviewed the process for declaring and handling this obvious COI, so I will create this entry on a sub-page and then seek another editor's assistance for publishing it.
