From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hersheypark has had several different turnpike rides since installing it's first version in 1936.

Custer Car Ride[edit]

On May 24, 1936, Hershey Park opened it's first turnpike ride, called the Custer Car Ride. It was manufactured by the Custer Motor Company, and operated in the park into the 1940s. It was a gas-powered ride, which suggests the ride was removed around 1942 due to gas rationing as a result of World War II.

Turnpike[edit]

In 1960, Hershey Park opened it's second turnpike ride, called Turnpike. It operated in the park until 1974, when it was truncated due to the addition of the Trailblazer. The ride may have operated for only part of that season.

Twin Turnpike[edit]

In 1975, Hersheypark opened up a new turnpike ride, called Twin Turnpike. There were two parallel tracks, one for antique cars, the other for the sports cars.
