I am a communications and marketing professional and social media strategist. I was raised in St. Louis, studied public communication in Washington DC, and currently work and live in New York City.

Education

As an undergraduate I pursued a major in Film and Video and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Webster University in St. Louis Missouri, where I studied to earn minors in political science, philosophy, and photojournalism. I went on to pursue a graduate's degree in Public Communication, with an emphasis in digital media and marketing while earning my Master's degree at American University in Washington D.C.

Blogging

My academic interests have led to my writing about subjects as diverse as social science, marketing, international relations, public policy, and even craft beer. I was a founding editor of a popular local blog in St. Louis, MO called Highway 61 (revised), and continue blogging on my professional/resume website, MatthewHurst.com. My beer blog BrewNoob.com is another blogging outlet where I express my interest in craft beer and culture.
