Gerald Malloy (Vermont) Is the republican nominee from Vermont for United States Senate Race,[1] Having won the Primary Election on August 9th in Vermont. He is running seat the Patrick Leahy has had since 1975, Leahy is the longest serving Senator still in office and has announced that he won't seek reelection for a 9th term, after serving for 48 years in the Senate.[2]

(Born, December 30, 1961; Boston, Massachusetts) served in the U.S. Army from 1980 to 2006. He is a decorated combat veteran. He earned a bachelor's degree from the US Military Academy West Point in 1984 and a graduate degree from Temple University in 1996. He attended Georgetown University in 2021 earning a graduate certificate. Malloy's United States Senate Vermont candidacy was published March 17th, 2022 in a personal statement sent to the Vermont Daily Chronicle.[3]

When asked why he was running for the United States Senate Vermont his answer was “This is about saving America from becoming a welfare nation, dependent on stimulus, as government chips away at our rights,” Malloy said. “That’s not what this veteran has served for.”[4]

During an interview on the Vermont State House steps with NBC5 Brianna Borghi while he was filing the signatures needed to be officially put on the ballot he states "I think all Vermonters are looking at the state of the union, the state of Vermont, and saying we cannot keep going in this direction with overspending, that’s why the inflation is at a 40-year high. Frankly, we’re getting ready to go into a recession," Malloy said. "So Vermonters … look at that. I’ve met thousands and thousands of Vermonters. They want change.”

Malloy's military service includes leadership positions around the world including duty in leadership positions in Germany, Korea, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Kuwait, Jordan, Canada and US bases including five years at Fort Bragg. Service awards include the Bronze Star and 7 Meritorious Service Medals. Malloy retired from active duty in 2006 as a Major with an Honorable Discharge. He has also worked in emergency management programs across New England and in business management supporting government organizations in Washington, D.C.

At an event in East Middlebury, Vermont, True North Reports, Malloy was part of a panel of 6 republicans. He stated “In terms of my platform, take a look at my website. I’m right in line with the Republican Party,” he said. “I think the three things that I’m most interested in is getting back to abiding by the U.S. Constitution, getting back to promoting economic prosperity and growth, and getting back to ensuring defense and security.”

He is a public servant with no agenda other than full commitment to the protection of the United States and securing the interests of the American people. I have full confidence in Malloy because our country deserves someone in power who is experienced, well-educated on national security, and someone who will restore morale to the people of the United States.”
