Jonathan D. Green is a sociologist employed at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has written on and conducted R&D on knowledge management strategy and intelligent systems, especially in distributed settings. His personal and professional interests are in Knowledge Mobilization, Knowledge community, Knowledge Management and Web portals.

At the present time Jonathan is working to harvest and transfer existing knowledge embedded within traditional research networks to practitioners and fields of practice. Part of this work involves the creation of free and open source knowledge communities for the vetting, repurposing and utilization of technical knowledge. For more than a decade Jonathan has been involved in promoting emergent social communication mechanisms (e.g. Wikipedia) to encourage collaboration on the refinement and use of ideas of interest to diverse sets of knowledge workers within acamdemia, industry and governments around the globe.
