I'm working on suggested edits to the page for Doug Parker. 1 I'm aiming to keep all the facts that were there before, while reorganizing and rewriting to make it more readable. I'll also add a photo soon.

Changes: 1st paragraph: Deleted that he was born in NYC, which is inaccurate. Added that he is also chairman.

2nd-3rd paragraphs: Rewrote and reorganized.

4th paragraph: Changed "prison" to "jail." I realize the cited source article uses the word "prison" but they're not interchangeable. 2

5th paragraph: Updated Thomas Horton's title to reflect that he is former chairmJosh Freed (talk) 02:03, 14 August 2014 (UTC)an and CEO of American.

I would suggest that the paragraph about political donations is irrelevant, and would also note that it is unsupported by citations.

William Douglas Parker (born 1961) is the current Chairman and CEO of American Airlines Group, Inc., the parent company of American Airlines and US Airways.

Parker has worked in the airline business since 1986, when he first joined American. He became chief financial officer of America West Airlines in 1995, and was named chairman and CEO in September 2001.

America West and US Airways merged in 2005, with Parker continuing as CEO of the combined company. He made an unsuccessful bid to merge US Airways with Delta Air Lines in 2007, and with United Airlines in 2010. In 2012 he launched an effort to merge US Airways with American Airlines. That deal closed on Dec. 9, 2013, and Parker was named CEO of the combined company.

In 2007, Doug Parker pleaded guilty to his third DUI and was sentenced to 1 day in jail.[1] After his conviction, shareholders questioned if the company should have disclosed Parker's two previous DUI arrests.[2]

Before joining America West Airlines, Parker was at American Airlines from 1986 to 1991, where he was a member of then CEO Robert Crandall's, "Brat Pack",[3] alongside Thomas W. Horton (former CEO and Chairman of American), David Cush (CEO of Virgin America) and Ben Baldanza (CEO of Spirit Airlines), and was Vice President and Assistant Treasurer at Northwest Airlines from 1991 to 1995. On February 14, 2013, US Airways and American Airlines announced their long-anticipated merger, with Parker taking the CEO role in the combined company.[4]

Parker has a BA in Economics from Albion College (1984) and an MBA from the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University (1986). He lives in Dallas, Texas with his wife, Gwen Parker, and three children.

In 2007 and 2008, Parker contributed over $10,000 to various Republican Party campaigns.
