Chiranjeevi (Telugu: చిరంజీవి) (born Konidela Siva Shankara Vara Prasad[1] on August 22, 1955), is an accomplished Telugu film personality, philanthropist, and politician. He is a 2006 recipient of the Padma Bhushan award, given by the Government of India, for his contribution to the field of Arts (Indian Cinema) [2]
Having won over ten[3] Filmfare awards in the Best Telugu Actor category, apart from three Nandi awards[4], he is widely regarded as one of the finest, most popular and bankable Telugu actors ever. Chiranjeevi is generally called and credited as Mega Star, and is referred to as Annayya, by his fans (meaning elder brother in Telugu).
In the later stages of his career, Chiranjeevi has pursued a number of charitable endeavors through the Chiranjeevi Charitable Foundation, established in 1998[5].
Chiranjeevi announced his formal entry into politics on August 17, 2008 and founded the political party named Praja Rajyam on August 27, 2008.[6]
