Olaparib, sold under the brand name Lynparza, is a medication used to treat ovarian cancer, fallopian tube cancer, and peritoneal cancer.[4][1] It is used in cases that have failed other treatments and are likely BRCA mutation positive.[4] It is taken by mouth.[1]

Common side effects include tiredness, nausea, diarrhea, heartburn, cough, headache, shortness of breath, low white blood cells, and low platelets.[7] Other side effects may include myelodysplastic syndrome and pneumonitis.[4] It should not be used when breastfeeding or pregnant.[7][4] It is a PARP inhibitor and works by blocking the ability of cancer cells to repair their DNA.[1]

Olaparib was approved for medical use in Europe and the United States in 2014.[4][7] In the United Kingdom a dose of 300 mg twice per day costs about £4,600 for 4 weeks as of 2021.[1] This amount in the United States costs about 14,000 USD.[8]
