Land of 120 saints Murarband Darbar Sharif or Kutuber Dargah is a sufi shrine of 120 sufi saint, located at Habiganj, Bangladesh. Hazrat Shah Jalal (Arabic: شيخ المشايخ, Bengali: শাহ জালাল, Shāh Jalāl ad-Dīn al-Mujarrad; 1271 CE - 15 March 1346 CE) is a celebrated Sufi Muslim figure in Bengal. Jalal's name is associated with the Muslim movement into north-eastern Bengal and the spread of Islam in Bangladesh through Sufism, part of a long history of travel between the Middle East, Persia, Central Asia and South Asia. According to a tablet inscription found in Amber Khana, he arrived at Sylhet in 1303. The largest airport in Bangladesh, Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, is named after him. His main buddy Hazrat Syed Nasir Uddin Shipahshalar came at Taraf (Habiganj) in 1304 CE with 12 Aulias and establish Islam and settled at Murarband Darbar Sharif. He established his own Silsila through his son and kalifa and Sajjada Nasheen Hazrat Syed Shah Siraj uddin who is 17th direct descendant of Hazrat Ali-Murtaza (Karam Allah-o-Wajho) known as Qadiriyyah Chishtiya. His Shrine is in Murarband Darbar Sharif, Narapati-3322, Chunarughat, Habiganj, Sylhet, Bangladesh. His URS (demise anniversary) is commemorated on 13th, 14th, and 115th, of January. Hazrat Syed Shah Ibrahim Malekul Ulama, Hazrat Syed Shah Israil Mollukul Ulama, Hazrat Syed Shah Ilias Kutubul Aulia and Hazrat Pirane Pir Makhdom Syed Shah Said Ahammad Chisti are direct descendant of Hazrat Syed Nasir Uddin Shipahshalar.

Saiyad Śhāh Nāsiruddin Sipāh Sālār[edit]

History of Syed Shah Nasiruddin of Sylhet and Taraf (Habiganj): Hazrat Syed Shah Nasiruddin (R) who was Chief of Army Force /Sipah Sala. His name is associated with the Muslim conquest of north-eastern Bengal Hazrat Shah Jalal of Sylhet, East Bengal currently the country is known as Bangladesh. Shah Syed Nasir Uddin (R) of 13th century saint, Chief of Army Force during the time of Shamuddin Firoz Shah (Ruler of Bengal- who was son of Bughra Khan and grandson of Sultan Ghiyasuddin Balban and later it was known as Tuglaq dynasty) Of Delhi Sultanate. Syed Shah Nasiruddin was Sufi who born in Baghdad. According to historical family background Syed Shah Nasiruddin has family connection with Prophet of Islam. Shah Nasiruddin was living in Bagdad until Khan destroyed Baghdad, he left the city and ultimately reached Delhi Sultanate of became Chief of Army/ Sipah Sala. Later, he participated in the SYLHET expedition with commander Sikandar Khan and Hazrat Shah Jalal (R) during the time period of The Tughlaq dynasty.

According to historical evidence there was A king named Gaur Govinda ruled the Sylhet area. Burhanuddin, a Muslim who lived in the territory under his control once sacrificed a cow to celebrate the birth of his son. But a bird snatched a piece of flesh of the slaughtered cow and it fell from its beak on the house of a Brahmin. According to another tradition, the piece of flesh fell on the temple of the king himself, which he took as a great offence. At the order of the king, Burhanuddin’s hands were said to have been cut off and his son killed. Burhanuddin went to gaur and submitted a prayer to Sultan Shamsuddin Feroz Shah for justice from him. The sultan accordingly sent an army under the command of his nephew Sikandar Khan Ghazi, who was however, defeated twice by Gaur Govinda. The sultan then ordered his most brave sipahsalar (armed forces chief) Shah Syed Nasiruddin (R) to lead the war.

Hazrat Shah Jalal (R) with his 360 followers reached Bengal and joined the Muslim army in the Sylhet campaign where Chief of Army force Shah Syed Nasiruddin (R) who took full responsibility to conquer Sylhet. Muslim army Chief of Shipahasala Nasiruddin Shah conquered Sylhet with his extreme bravery. King Gaur Govinda fled the country and Sylhet came under Muslim rule since that time. Shah Syed Nasiruddin (R) settled at Sylhet and his direct descendent lives at Murarband Darbar Sharif, East Bengal. Shah Syed Nasiruddin (R)'s Taraf's capital at Murarband Darbar Sharif, Taraf and cantonment at Lashkarpur in Habigang, East Bengal, currently Bangladesh. Syed Nasiruddin's administrative region Taraf Pargana at Muraband Taraf and his descendants continued thier taraf Zamindari at Lashkarpur, Sultansi, kishoreganj at Sylhet and descendants lives in Lashkerpur. According to recent studies Ibn Batuta visited Bengal in 1345-46 AD, which means, Shah Jalal (R) died in 1347. Hazrat Shah Jalal's Shrine is in Sylhet, East Bengal. Shah Syed Nasiruddin (R) was a follower of the SUHRAWARDIA TARIQA (order) and Qadiriyyah Chishtiya (order). There are many legends about his supernatural powers. At Shah Jalal's direction, accompanied by twelve saints, he attacked and defeated king Achak Narayan of Taraf and became administrator there. His shrine is at Muraband Taraf in HABIGANJ.

  • Sipahsalar Syed Nasiruddin was a dervish and Islamic preacher, who was born in Baghdad. After Hulagu Khan had destroyed Baghdad, he left the city in his teen and ultimately reached Delhi. Later, he participated in the Sylhet expedition as a sipahsalar (chief of armed forces) under spiritual guidance of Hazrat Shah Jalal (R) and temporal leadership of Sikander Ghazi. Syed Nasiruddin was a follower of the Suhrawardiya Tariqa (order)and Qadiriyyah Chishtiya(order. There are many legends about his supernatural powers. At Shah Jalal's direction, accompanied by twelve saints, he defeated a local chieftain, Achak Narayan, of Taraf. He establish Nasirabad, which was an autonomous state that included south Mymensingh, Dhaka and Comilla with its capital at Murarband Darbar Sharif, Taraf and cantonment at Lashkarpur. His shrine is at Muraband, Taraf in Habiganj.
  • 'Syed Sultan (1550-1648)- Poet of medieval Bangla literature, was born in Lakserpur. The name of his Pir was Syed Hasan. The poet himself later reached the status of a pir and had a disciple called Maktul Hussain, author of the poetical work. He wrote several books, including Nabi Bangsha (Family of the Prophet), Gyanprodip (Light of knowledge), Jnanchautisha, and Jaikum Rajar Ladai (Battle of King Jaikum).
  • Pirane Pir Makhdom Hazrat Syed Shāh Said Ahammad Chiśtī (Murarband Darbar Sharif) was born on 1 July 1924. He was born at Murarband Darbar Sharif. Father- Syed Moh. Yasin and mother- Syeda Atikunnesa Bibi. He wrote several flock song and spiritual kalam.
