Nahid, Thanks for your careful observations of my wikipedia entry. I edited it to take out brand names, and I assure you that it is not meant as an advertisement for any company. Sincerely, User:Banarne

I have a plan![edit]

Hey Nahid! I have a plan in my mind regarding Bangladeshi Universities. I wanna share those plans with you. Please send me your gmail or yahoo id at this address. notredamean AT gmail.com

Regrads,

Niaz bd 07:24, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

Nahid, you just simply converted it (project page) to a cool one. Thanks man. Mid term week is running, 5 subjects, I am gonna die this time :-( . I have two junior friends at Northern University (Sabbir, Lecturer, CSE) and IUT (Adnan, Lecturer, CSE). And Shubeen (Lecturer, CSE) is also at State University. I am pretty confident to improve those articles at least to a certain stage. I'll be back soon! Niaz bd 15:23, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

Uttara University[edit]

Thanks for your comments, but there is a copyright violation at Uttara University. For example, the article states: UU "was founded as a Private University by Dr. M. Azizur Rahman, an economist of international repute, with an idea of setting up an affordable institution of quality". That's taken from http://www.uttarauniversity.com/about.htm. Thank you Nahid[edit]

Dear Nahid, This time thanks from my side :-). I always love to experiment with CSS. Whenever I find any cool user page, at first I open the source to view the CSS and then I start experimenting on it. My current user page is such an experimental child.

Your effort at everywhere on this Wikipedia is simply superb. I believe you deserve much more than what you have achieved. It's really nice to work with a person like you.

I have updated NDC Alumni user box and also added Bangladesh at Wikipedia:Userboxes/Education/Bangladesh. Please have a look. And, you may also have a look at my User Box Profile :-).

Regard, Niaz bd 17:23, 7 July 2007 (UTC)

It would be very nice if you can join us. We shall talk about the advancement measures of Bangla Wikipedia there. It will be held on the office of BdOSN (Click here for address) on 14th instant. Feel free to join. We will be waiting. The program will start on 4:00pm. -- Hermitage17 01:59, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

Hi Nahid,

You changed the logo of KUET page by the logo of Khulna University. These are two different universities. Your contribution towards the University pages are gr8..but be carefull of possible mistake.

Regards,

Khaled

Can you please provide me following references?[edit]

Nahid, to my horror surprise, private university part in the article List of universities in Bangladesh discusses only the negative issues and it focuses public universities as if some thing special in Bangladesh. WHY??? I think, we should put some facts in the public university parts.

  • In Dhaka University, student halls are dominated by armed terrorists and dirty politics.
  • BUET student Sony was killed on the campus due to on campus terrorist activity.
  • In BUET, it takes 6 years time to finish 4 years course.
  • Other political issues.
  • Anything new and interesting :-)

Can you please provide me some references on those topics? Niaz bd 09:59, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

About Star Campus[edit]

Yesterday I visited The Daily Star office and it was a fruitful meeting with Star Campus team. They showed unbelievable interest and also promised to help us in expanding Bangladeshi Universities project. I talked about you and it would be really nice if you can manage few hours and attend our next meeting. Please let me know and keep wikifying :-) .

Regards, Niaz bd 16:10, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

User Box and Other Updates[edit]

Nahid, please have a look at the project user box. I have also created project template. But it is still at an initial stage and I need to work on it to make it a perfect one. I am trying to encourage people to join our project starting from a tea stall customer to a university professor :-) . Today, some of my Uttara University students joined our project. Let's see how long they can hold their interest.

Niaz bd 12:50, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks[edit]

Thanks Nahid. Hope to meet you tomorrow at Daily Star office. Niaz bd 18:17, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the revert on my user page, much appreciated :-) Myanw 11:43, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

Neil Armstrong[edit]

I had to revert your edit. The article seems adequately referenced; even if you disagree, that was way too many {{cn}} tags. --John 18:50, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

That would be a mistake, please don't do that.

Neil Alden Armstrong (born August 5, 1930) is a former American astronaut, test pilot, university professor, and naval aviator. He is the first person to have set foot on an extraterrestrial world (The Moon).[citation needed] His first spaceflight was Gemini 8[citation needed] in 1966, for which he was the command pilot. On this mission, he performed the first manned docking of two spacecraft together with pilot David Scott.[citation needed] Armstrong's second and last spaceflight was as mission commander of the Apollo 11 moon landing mission on July 20, 1969.[citation needed] On this famous "giant leap for mankind,"[citation needed] Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin descended to the lunar surface ("The Eagle has landed") and spent 2.5 hours exploring while Michael Collins orbited above.[citation needed]

Are you seriously suggesting every one of these needs an inline reference? I don't agree, and neither does policy. --John 18:59, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
Absolutely right, as far as it goes. Do you really think it requires an inline citation that Armstrong was the first to walk on the Moon? --John 19:12, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

Thank you[edit]

Thanks for cleaning up my page, but actually…[edit]

…that IP was me — a lot of the computers I use are finicky about remembering my account, so it ends up slipping into the IP address. For future reference, you don't have to worry if one of my subpages is edited by an anon, unless there's an obviously inappropriate message inserted. Otherwise, if it really is a vandal, I'll catch the change sooner or later. Still, that's a good service for people, and I'll to my best to pay it forward. Cheers! Image:C plus plus book.jpg[edit]

You tagged Image:C plus plus book.jpg as missing the source. In fact, the source is clearly specified. The image description page states, "An image of the book cover of The C++ Programming Language, written by the language's developer, Bjarne Stroustrup." Now, it does not have a detailed fair-use rationale but then, such was not required when the image was uploaded. --Yamla 15:09, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I removed the speedy tags from a couple of articles you tagged because I don't believe they meet the criteria for speedy deletion. --Darksun 17:10, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

Fate of Information virus[edit]

This article is not eligible for speedy deletion, let alone WP:CSD#A7 (non-notable website). It specifically falls under non-criteria as falling under WP:NOT, in this case "Wikipedia is not a publisher of original thought", this appearing to be a personal essay. Bangladesh portal[edit]

Hi, I'd like to draw your attention to Bangladesh portal. I have tried to address the concerns in earlier peer review and checked the portal against Featured portal criteria. Based on this I think it is proper time to push for Featured Portal status for Bangladesh Portal, which will be an important milestone for WikiProject Bangladesh. But to achieve this I need help from you. Please participate in the on-going discussion on the talk page and give me your valuable inputs.-Arman Aziz 03:51, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

Sorry about that... anyway, can you give me the directions I asked to kinu (it seems anyboy can read other's messages here...)

Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Elonka 2[edit]

Thank you for taking the time to participate at the discussion in my Request for Adminship. Unfortunately the nomination did not succeed, but please rest assured that I am still in full support of the Wikipedia project. I listened carefully to all concerns, and will do my best to incorporate all of the constructive advice that I received, into my future actions on Wikipedia. If you can think of any other ways that I can further improve, please let me know. Best wishes, Elonka 05:01, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

No rationale[edit]

Greetings. I noticed that you tagged every non-free image I have ever uploaded or edited that didn't have a proper rationale as {{no rationale}}. Thanks, I've fixed these now. Unfortunately, you didn't tag these images correctly. The "no rationale" template should be used with parameters indicating the date of tagging -- otherwise they have broken category links, and they can't be deleted by administrators once the time is up. It's probably easiest to use {{subst:nrd}}, which automatically fills in the dates for you. All the best, – Quadell (talk) (random) 11:16, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:PUB-logo.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:PUB-logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 00:09, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

Image:The way i are 2.jpg[edit]

As per the license, Image:The way i are 2.jpg can only be used to provide critical commentary on the music video. Until the rationale explains how it is being used to provide critical commentary, it does not meet the requirements for a detailed fair-use rationale. Indeed, right now the image is not being used for critical commentary, only for illustration purposes, and thus it currently is being used in violation of the license. --Yamla 16:52, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

BannerShell for Wikiproject notices[edit]

Hi NAHID, thanks for all your work for WikiProject Universities :D ! I am working on assessing the unassessed WP:UNI articles, and today I've done a few of the ones you've created. Just a note on the Bannershell: make sure to include the line "|nested=yes" in all the sub-templates (i.e. the Wikiproject Banners). I see you've done this for most of them, so you already know about it; there were just a few that weren't nested. Thanks! ~ Danelo 16:40, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

I'm trying hard to let other people know about WP and its activities so that they get interested to contribute here, in a proper way of course. I'll update you about our off-wikipedia activity very soon! -- Niaz bd 07:10, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

Pages that should be created b/c of notability--PRONTO[edit]

I 'm astonished at the fact that MANY wiki pages exist that shouldn't , while others that shold exist remain non-existant. Here are some that should be created.

Many are American TV writers/novelists/playwrights/producers/directors who've been NOTABLE in their chosen profession for more than 10 years & have recieved numerous acclaim in the form of award nominations & wins: Herbert Kenwith (directed the 1st ep of CBS's Y&R), David Shaughnessy (ex-Executive Producer of Y&R), David Goldschmid (writer on General Hospital), Tracey Thomson (writer on General Hospital), David Hiltbrand, Burton Armus (Emmy nominated writer of NYPD Blue), Neil Landau (writer with many credits to his name), Mark Teschner (award winning Casting Director of General Hospitall for more than a decade!), Nancy Ford (co-wrote the 1st ep of Ryan's Hope), Cornelius Crane, Ginger Redmon, Royal Miller, recast

Jervey, Doris Silverton, Jeanne Davis Glynn, Tom Citrano, Jack Urbont, The Bahler Brothers, David Rupel, Shelly Moore

Once again, way too many pages on wiki need to be deleted, while way too many need to be created a.s.a.p. All you have to do is an Internet search on Yahoo RO IMDB on each of the aforementioned names in quotations. (Eg. "William Ludel"). I hope that Wiki can be a much better source of info for all who seek knowledge. Thanks!

We should start working on some important pages[edit]

Nahid, I noticed that some of the important school and college articles need to be improved. Such as Viqarunnisa Noon School, Notre Dame College (Dhaka) and so on. Those articles claim they are extraordinary which is a valid claim in deed. But, those claims should come in a Wiki style which is missing there. I think, we should take necessary steps for those articles also. Please let me know what you think.

By the way, I was too harsh on NSU article but there was a reason. Some of the NSU guy created NSUSS page and uploaded their pictures without any text. They are using WP as a self-promoting site. Moreover, it became a common trend that people associated with NSU are including their website links as an External Link where there is no direct connection with the main article. Simply self-promotion, nothing else. By adding those tag I tried to draw their attention and convey a message that Stop self-promotion and try to improve your university article. Anyway, soon after I felt that I was too rude on that article and tried to remove few of the tags but due to internet connection shutdown I couldn't. Thanks for removing extra tags. Niaz(Talk • Contribs) 02:22, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

NSUSS article has been deleted. It would be a lesson for them. Niaz(Talk • Contribs) 02:24, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
Fully agreed. Do you know any current notredamian who can help us with photos and pictorial stuff? I had a plan to visit NDC and take some pix but due to time constraint I couldn't make it. So, we may take help from current sources. Niaz(Talk • Contribs) 09:52, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
Cool ;-) . You can also add recent situation. A press note from the government said those activities were leaded by the outsider staying inside the university. It actually reflects public universities administrative weakness and to some extent administrative poverty :-D. Niaz(Talk • Contribs) 10:45, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 06:25, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
