Holy Trinity Anglican Church is located in downtown Winnipeg, Manitoba in the Anglican Diocese of Rupert's Land. It was designed by architect Charles H. Wheeler and was completed in 1884. Described as "one of Canada’s finest examples of 19th century High Victorian Gothic architecture",[1] it was designated a National Historic Site in 1990,[2] and a City of Winnipeg Heritage Building in 2008.[3]

History[edit]

The Holy Trinity Anglican congregation organized in 1867 in the city that would become incorporated as Winnipeg in 1874. By the late 1870s larger and more modern facilities were required for the growing congregation. In 1879, eight vacant lots were made available to the congregation for the purpose of building a new church. Located at the corner of Donald Street and Graham Avenue, the land cost $1,550 and was originally on the outskirts of the city. [1] [4]
