Corotos.com.do, commonly known as Corotos, is a prominent online classified ads website in the Dominican Republic. Founded in 2011 by Schibsted Classified Media, a division of the Norwegian group Schibsted, and later in 2020, it was acquired by a group of local investors[1]. This portal allows users to post ads for free to buy, sell, or trade both new and second-hand items, as well as to offer professional services. Corotos has established itself as one of the most popular classified ads websites in the country, earning the status of the number one online classifieds portal[2]. With a wide range of categories covering vehicles, real estate, home, electronics, employment, services, animals, leisure, and sports, Corotos has become an essential resource for Dominicans in their search for and sale of products and services.

Corotos.com.do is an online classified ads website primarily dedicated to the buying and selling of second-hand items. However, it also allows the purchase and sale of new items and the posting of ads related to professional services. The website offers its users the opportunity to post ads for free and is designed to meet the needs of both individuals and businesses. Currently, Corotos categorizes its ads into ten main categories, encompassing a wide variety of products and services:
- Vehicles
- Real Estate
- Home goods
- Beauty and Fashion
- Babies and Kids
- Electronics
- Sports & Entertainment
- Jobs
- Business & Services
- Others
With this diversity of categories, Corotos has become an essential resource for Dominicans looking to acquire or sell a wide range of products and services, solidifying its position as one of the leading classified ads portals in the country.

The story that led to Corotos.com.do begins in Sweden in 1996 when Henrik Nordström created the classified ads site Blocket in the town of Fjälkinge in the south of the country. The site expanded nationally and, by 2010, became the largest online buying and selling marketplace in the country. Taking inspiration from this experience, the Schibsted Group (owner of Blocket since 2003) created various classified ads websites worldwide. In 2011, Schibsted Classified Media established Corotos.com.do with the aim of serving the audience in the Dominican Republic.
In 2016, Corotos became the number 1 online classifieds portal in the Dominican Republic, receiving 7,400 visits per hour and 1,209,860 unique users per month.[3].
In 2017, Corotos and the Department of Investigations and High-Tech Crimes (DICAT) of the National Police signed an agreement to increase their efficiency in preventing, reducing, and prosecuting scams in online commercial transactions.[4]
In 2020, Schibsted decided to exit the Dominican Republic and sold Corotos.com.do to a group of local investors.
In 2021, Corotos introduced a new version of its website, which includes new search filters and more visible details of advertisements on main pages.[5]
In 2022, Corotos revamped its sales solutions catalog, introducing a subscription service called "Plans," providing more benefits and features for all businesses, sellers, and entrepreneurs using the platform.[6]
Solutions[edit]
Users who wish to post on Corotos can do so for free, as long as they stay within the limit of allowed ads. Those users who want to post unlimitedly can do so by purchasing a Posting Plan. Corotos also offers additional solutions for sellers to maximize their sales, some of which are as follows:
- Verified Account: A data validation process in which the person or company owning the account provides personal information and biometric data to enhance security when conducting a transaction.
- Seller Plans: A subscription service that allows platform users to post unlimited listings and access other benefits such as an included Verified Account, featured section presence, etc. Seller Plans come in 3 modes: Basic, Pro, and Premium.
- Boost: A product that helps improve the visibility of your ad and applies to all ads regardless of the category.
