Prabhat Group of Newspapers[1] is a leading Gujarati Daily Newspaper was established in the year 1935 by Shri Kakalbhai Ravjibhai Kothari in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Prabhat group consists of:

1. the daily Prabhat

2. the weekly Nav Saurashtra

3. the monthly Kumar

Prabhat group played a very important role in the fight against independence where the editor of the Prabhat, Shri Kakalbhai Kothari, was taken into custody and sentenced to a six months of jail in Sabarmati and Dhutia during the Salt Satyagraha. Prabhat's workplace in Ahmedabad was also a very important center of movement during the war for control of Mahagujarat that happened in 1956.

Prabhat group also helped a lot of Gujarati writers in their early days such as Chunilal Madiya and Jhaverchand Meghani.

In commemoration of India's 75th Independence Day, the Indian government initiated a series titled "The Unsung Heroes," paying tribute to various individuals. One of the honorees was Shri Kakalbhai Kothari, the Founding Editor of the Prabhat group.
