Items remaining[edit]

Carole's hold spot[edit]

  • Developing thoughts:
    • Main cultural drivers within the east appear to be China, Japan and India - although Mughal / other are also influenced by others (Le May, I believe)

Rex's hold spot[edit]

Japan - Moon - Black moon[edit]

All three images of Black moons are in the article now - all under folklore and literature sections

Need a source (book, web page) that talks about the significance of a black moon in paintings.
Possible search terms: "Black moon" painting OR paintings
How about if we cover this this in the "moon discussion" - and refer (with inarticle links) to the sections where the images may be found?

Japan - new item[edit]

  • My Japanese friend sent this to me: [1]

Symbolism[edit]

  • Are there some examples of paintings that he's depicted in - so we have a place to explore this?
    • "A famous mythology character Yue-Laou, the "old man of the moonlight", appears before two lovers under the moonlight and ties a red thread to forever match them." -- I spent about 45 minutes on this and wasn't having luck.
    • "There are ghosts and spirits that appear in the night to deliver messages to people." -- nothing on this piece in particular

Still on the look out. -- RexRowan  Talk  10:29, 30 August 2012 (UTC)
