TaxSlayer.com is an American web based online tax preparation software company. TaxSlayer.com has been filing tax returns for individual taxpayers since 1998. [1][2] Taxslayer.com is one of many software companies that participates in the IRS Free File Alliance.[3]

TaxSlayer.com is an affiliate of Rhodes Financial Services and the company headquarters is located in Evans, GA. Rhodes Financial Services Inc. is the parent company of Rhodes-Murphy & Co.’s, Rhodes Computer Services, and Rhodes Murphy Licensing Company. [4][5]

TaxSlayer.com came into creation from the success of Rhodes-Murphy & Co. Rhodes-Murphy & Co. is a Professional Tax Company with offices located in Georgia and South Carolina that are still in operation today. Rhodes-Murphy & Co. was founded in the early sixties by Aubrey Rhodes Sr. Many of the early shareholders included Tom Murphy, Bob Rhodes, Virginia Rhodes, Gene Coleman, MC Poss, and Zane Christopher Sr. The success of Rhodes-Murphy & Co. led to the creation of Rhodes Computer Services.

Rhodes Computer Services was created in 1989 to develop income tax preparation software for Rhodes-Murphy & Co. tax offices. In 1993, Rhodes Computer Services began developing TaxSlayer Pro to market to tax preparers, accountants and CPA’s across the United States. Starting in 1998, Rhodes Computer Services used its technology from TaxSlayer Pro to develop an individual online tax preparation software- TaxSlayer.com. [6][7]

TaxSlayer.com’s operation model was based on the belief that their many years of experience in the Tax Preparation industry would translate successfully into providing online tax preparation service. To date, TaxSlayer.com employs many tax professionals to help support the millions of individual electronic filers in their database. [1] [8]

Versions of TaxSlayer.com[edit]

TaxSlayer.com’s 2009 product line consists of Classic and Extreme versions. Both versions are available online and include state filings. The Extreme version replaces the prior year’s Premium version. [9]

In 2003, TaxSlayer.com created a Military Pledge to the men and women of the United States Armed Forces. This program allows them to file a free Federal and State tax return. [10]

Advertising Campaigns[edit]

In the summer of 2009, TaxSlayer.com became the primary sponsor of the #71 Sprint Cup Series car. In 2010, TaxSlayer.com signed on for 13 Sprint Cup Series races with Bobby Labonte as their car’s driver.[11][12]
