Ryan Stephan is an American professional basketball player who currently plays for the Gunma Crane Thunders in the Japanese B.League.

High School Career & Awards[edit]

Stephan attended Green Mountain High School in Lakewood Colorado where he was awarded Jefferson County 4A First Team All-Conference award as both a junior (2010-11) and a senior (2011-12), and 4A All-State Honorable Mention award as a senior.[1]

College Career & Awards[edit]

Stephan was signed by the Colorado Mesa University (CMU) Mavericks, in Grand Junction Colorado. The CMU Mavericks participate in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC).

Freshman (2012-13): Saw action in all 28 games and averaged 4.5 points and 1.8 rebounds...scored a season high 14 points at Black Hills State.

Sophomore (2013-14): Started all 27 games, averaging 18.4 points and 6.6 rebounds...Led the Mavericks and finished third in the RMAC in field goal percentage at .579...Ranked seventh in league in scoring (xx ppg) and eighth in rebounding (xx prg)...Ranked seventh in blocks with 27...Scored 10+ points in 25 of 27 games...Scored 20+ 13 times...Scored a season-high 27 points vs. Colorado Christian.

On January 23, 2016 Stephan scored a career high 42 points against Chadron State.[13] On February 20, 2016 Stephan scored another career high 45 points against Regis and tied the CMU single game scoring record - while also reaching the 2,000 point milestone for his career. [14] Stephan joined Jon Baskin (2,227 points) and Paul Cain (2,035 points) as the only three players in CMU school history to score over 2,000 points. [15]

He graduated with 2,073 points—the second highest total in school history—as well as 800 rebounds, which ranks second. For his career, Stephan averaged 11.4 points, 6.9 rebounds, ?.? assists, ?.? blocks and 0.z steals. as a senior RMAC in scoring (18.2) and rebounding (10.9) in conference games. Stephan is only the second player from CMU to be named the men's basketball player of the year in the RMAC.

Professional Career & Awards[edit]

In May 2016, Stephan attended a tryout with the NBA's Denver Nuggets. [26] [27]

In June 2016, Stephan signed with the Japanese B.League Tokyo Excellence to begin his professional career. During his 2016-2017 rookie season with the Excellence, Stephan averaged 17.8 points and 10.8 rebounds per game, leading the team in both categories. He also was named the www.Asia-Basket.com Japanese B.League D2 Best Performer of the week 5 times.

In July 2017, Stephan signed with the Japanese B.League Gunma Crane Thunders. On October 9, 2017 he was was named the www.Asia-Basket.com Best player of Japanese B.League D2 round 3. [28] As of December 12, 2017, he averages 21.? ppg and 11.? rpg, leading the team in both categories.
