Xtralis manufactures command and control products that comprise gas detection and environmental monitoring; video transmission, and recording and analysis; access control; intrusion detection; traffic detection; and fire detection. Its products are deployed across a range of industries, including correctional facilities, cultural/heritage, data/telecom, education/healthcare, government/critical infrastructure, industrial/manufacturing, insurance, retail/commercial, transportation, power/utilities, and warehousing/logistics.

Xtralis Pty Ltd. is currently held by Pacific Equity Partners, having been acquired in January 2006 for AUD $253[1] million from Vision Systems Limited. Formerly known as Vision Fire & Security Pty Ltd., the company changed its name to Xtralis Pty Ltd. in May 2007. The company was incorporated in 1983 and is based in Bentleigh East, Australia with regional offices in the Americas, the Asia Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

Xtralis has made a number of recent acquisitions including HeiTel Digital Video GmbH[2] in 2011, ASIM Technologies Ltd[3] in 2007, and VSK Group[4] in 2007. The VSK acquisition included ICAM smoke detection products, which were acquired by VSK in 2006.

Xtralis Products[edit]

VESDA & ICAM Smoke Detection[edit]

Xtralis manufactures VESDA[5] and ICAM[6] brand aspirating smoke detectors (ASD). Aspirating smoke detectors are highly sensitive, and can detect smoke before it is even visible to the human eye. In 2010, IMS Research named Xtralis the world’s leading supplier of ASD systems in the fire detection market. According to the report World Market for Fire Detection and Suppression Products - 2010 Edition[7], Xtralis accounted for more than 50 percent of the global ASD market in 2009. Xtralis recently introduced a non-ASD system called OSID, which provides smoke detection for large open areas using an optical detector (light sensor) that employs dual infrared (IR) and ultraviolet (UV) wavelengths.

Gas Detection[edit]

ECO[8] gas detectors use existing VESDA or ICAM pipe networks to actively sample air for the presence of smoke as well as hazardous/combustible gases. Integration with other building systems (FACP, PLC, HVAC and BMS) allows real-time situational awareness and emergency response, including the activation of demand-controlled ventilation.

Traffic Detection & Control[edit]

ASIM[9] traffic detectors use a combination of doppler radar/microwave sensors, ultrasonic sensors and/or passive infrared sensors for traffic data acquisition, as well as vehicle and pedestrian detection for intersection control.

ADPRO Security Solutions[edit]

Xtralis manufactures video transmission, recording, and analysis; access control; and, intrusion detection systems under the ADPRO brand.

Intrusion Detection[edit]

The ADPRO PRO[10] series of passive infrared (PIR) systems detect moving targets by sensing temperature differences between them and the stationary background. The detectors are used primarily for perimeter security. ADPRO Presidium[11] video motion detector (VMD) is a rack-mounted electronic video system designed for outdoor perimeter and area protection applications. The system accepts up to 20 video inputs and detects and tracts the motion of humans within a defined zone. The system is designed to provide high resilience to unwanted alarms from small animals, clouds, wind and rain.

Access Control[edit]

ADPRO S3000 Access Control[12] systems offer Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology to the door, for door locks, card readers, and biometric sensors over existing IP network infrastructure. ADPRO S3100[13] IP Security Panel provides for access control, intrusion detection, technical control, and bank security applications.

Video Recording/Transmission/Storage[edit]

ADPRO FastTrace 2 Hybrid[14] system provides video and audio transmission and recording technology with analytics for both IP and analogue CCTV remote monitoring applications. ADPRO VideoCentral Platinum is a multi-site video security management software application specifi cally designed to monitor video and audio from remote sites fitted with ADPRO video transmission systems. ADPRO VideoWall provides live video displays from multiple ADPRO-equipped sites simultaneously and is sold as an add-on to ADPRO VideoCentral Platinum.

Remote Monitoring Software[edit]

Xtralis sells ADPRO M3000 Command and Control Software and ADPRO VideoCentral Platinum Remote Video and Alarm Management Software primarily to central monitoring stations (CMS) for remote monitoring applications.
