2: Network Design

Before designing the new network you need to gather information from the user and agree the functional specification

- Produce a list of possible questions that you need answering before undertaking the initial network design.

You now need to design an appropriate network solution. You may need to addume the answers to some questions.

- Use network design software to produce the logical network design for the head office site.

- Annotate your design

Submit one a4 page:

- List of questions you need answered by your client - Any assumed answers

One a4 page:

- A diagram showing how your propose to network the equipment at the head office site

Computer networks are made up of hardware devices, software and amedia.

The Board of Directors has asked you to prepare a document explaining the function and costs of all network components used in your design, the rols oe network operating software and the types of transmission media used to connect the devices together.

It has asked you to justify your chopice of components giving possible alternatives

Evidence to be submitted

No more than three a4 pages:

- A document fot he board of directors. Use tables and diagrams where appropriate.
