Why Kosal should have a separate page?

First point:

People of Samabalpur are called Sambalpuria; People of Kalahandi are called Kalahandia; People of Balangir are called Balangiria; People of Sonepur are called Sonepuria and so on. Therefore we can not say whole Kosal region as Sambalpuri region.

Second point: People of Kosal are called Kosli. Sometimes people loosely refer them as Sambalpuria.

Third Point: The map of Kosal state is not correct. It does not have Athmallik area of Angul district.

Fourth Point: It is an article mixing two subjects related to Sambalpur and Kosal. It should be separated.

Fifth point: It has a sentence “Sambalpuri is spoken in 10 district of Western Orissa”. This is not correct it should be “Kosali is spoken in 10 district of proposed Kosal state”

There are many more things which is confusing in this article. To be honest this article has no clear picture about Kosal, Samabalpur, and Western Orissa.

Kosala was an ancient Indian region. The Kosala kingdom was divided in to many parts through different ages. During the reign of Dasaratha, the father of Rama, Dakshina Kosala came into prominence. It was situated in the Orissa and Chhattisgarh state of India. Dasaratha married his eldest wife Kausalya from this kingdom.

I think it is a good idea to start an article about Modern Dakshina Kosala (Dakshina Kosala Kingdom page already exists). The actual Kosal region is in Uttar Pradesh not in Orissa. Western Orissa and part of Chhattisgarh state belongs to Dakshina Kosal now what we call “Kosal/western Orissa/Sambalpuri region”

RWH[edit]

Third point - which map? Please learn to create wikilinks. I assume you mean this one.

The table below gives the eleven districts listed on the WODC website. In the Samba column I have placed a "no" against Anugul because it is not shown on the map. Now will you please tell me which of these districts make up Kosal as you understand it?

WODC Samba Kos
Anugul no
Bargarh
Bolangir
Boudh
Deogarh
Jharsuguda
Kalahandi
Nuapada
Sambalpur
Sonepur
Sundargarh

SKARMEE[edit]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dakshina_Kosala_Kingdom. My problem with the article Sambalpuri region is that it mixing many things viz.Kosal, western Orissa and Sambalpur.

Please don't misunderstand me. I am new in Wiki. The map should have part of Anugul district particularly the Athamallik area. As I said earlier the Sambalpuri region article should be separated in to two part as "Proposed Kosal state" and other ones (Sambalpuri and western Orissa). Thanks
