The 2020 Tesla Roadster Trophy was the first and only season of the fictional American sports car racing series organized by the Association for Worldwide Motorsport (AWM) with support from Formula E Holdings. The series began its inaugural season in 2020, folding at the end of the season to make way for future events on the calendar. The season was run as a support series to the North American GT Championship, which also folded at the end of the season. Races were run in the form of a 15-minute sprint race, which occurred the same day as a 25-minute qualifying session.

The four-event season was scheduled to begin on August 22nd at Virginia International Raceway and finish on November 7th at Sebring International Raceway.

History[edit]

The competition came about as part of a plan between the AWM and Formula E Holdings to expand electric car racing throughout the world, with the Tesla Roadster Trophy acting as the North American companion to the European Jaguar I-Pace eTrophy. The series was soon after announced as a support series to the new-for-2020 North American GT Championship. In June 2020, the series was announced to be streamed live on the AWM's YouTube channel. No television coverage would be provided of the event.

The season was initially announced to have a length of eight races, but with the folding of the Jaguar Trophy and the North American GT Championship scheduled to end following the 2020 season, the season was reduced to a length of four races.

Calendar[edit]

The initial calendar was announced on July 19th, 2020, with the revised calendar being released September 18th, 2020. The revised calendar reduced the initial eight races to just four.
