2023 award (31st awards)[edit]
The 2023 Piolet d'Or winners were announced in October 2023 by a 7-person technical jury consisting of Lise Billon, Ines Papert, Nikita Balabanov, Ales Cesen, Martin Elias, Genki Narumi and Jack Tackle.[1]. There were three Awarded Ascents and one Special Mention.
- First ascent of the south-southeast spur of Jirishanca, Cordillera Huayhuash via Reino Hongo (1,000 m, M7, 3-days) by Alik Berg and Quentin Roberts[2].
- First ascent of Jugal Spire (6,563 m) via the Phantom Line (1,300m, ED) on the North face by Tim Miller and Paul Ramsden[3].
- First ascent of Pumari Chhish East, Hispar Muztagh via The Crystal Ship (1,600m, 6b A2 M7) by Christophe Ogier, Victor Saucède and Jérôme Sullivan[4].
- "Special Mention" for the first ascent of the East face of the Northern Sun Spire (1,527m) in East Greenland by Capucine Cotteaux, Caro North and Nadia Royo. This was noted for being an all-women team[5].
- American alpinist George Lowe won the Lifetime Achievement Award[6]
