Campus[edit]

Among the buildings on FEU's campus complex, five by Pablo Antonio garnered recognition for FEU in 2005 from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), who bestowed the Asia Pacific Heritage Award for Cultural Heritage on the university for "the outstanding preservation of its Art Deco structures."[1] The buildings include the Nicanor Reyes Hall, the FEU East Asia College of Engineering and Computer Studies, the Law and Nursing Building, Auditorium/Administration Building and the Science Building. The buildings were constructed over a period of years ranging from 1939 to 1950 and reflect Antonio's evolution from Art Deco to the International Style popularized in the area after World War II.[1] The Cultural Center of the Philippines also recognized the historical legacy of the buildings with a marker. Other historical buildings on the campus include the 1950s FEU Chapel, FEU Hospital, and the Arts and Sciences Building, which also represent the International Style.

Research Centers[edit]

  • University Research Center (URC) - a university-based research and extension unit that aims to foster a culture of research in the university. The URC facilitates the production of research through funding, research capability-building, research information dissemination, linkages and publication.
  • Center for Studies on the Urban Environment (SURE) - created in response to continuing degradation of the urban environment most especially in the inner cities. As its initial major project, the Center organized in November 2000 the "International Conference on Megacities in the 21st Century," It gathered speakers from Asian and Western Countries who shared their knowledge and experience in Urban renewal and development.
  • Center for Teaching Excellence (CENTEX) - it aims to improve instructional delivery and enhancing the educational experience for all students.
  • Center for Testing and Evaluation (CTE) - a unit of the university under the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, it provides primary support for testing and evaluating students in choosing their programs of study, thus ensuring their suitability and meritorious performance in the program throughout their stay in the academe.

Athletics[edit]

FEU is a member of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines and currently participates in 19 sports in the UAAP.[7] The university has teams in Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Chess Fencing, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, and Volleyball for both men and women. It also has a team in Boys Basketball represented by the FEU-FERN High School in Quezon City. The teams are called the Tamaraws named after the strong, brave buffalo indigenous to the Philippine island of Mindoro. FEU founder Nicanor Reyes Sr. was amazed at the tenacity of the Tamaraw in one of his hunting trips in Mindoro.[2][3] FEU produced world class athletes like Lydia De Vega, Elma Muros, Anthony Villanueva, Johnny Abarrientos and many more.[2][3]
