Gajendra Singh Chaudhary, BSF, ITBP, BPR&D[edit]

Mr. Gajendra Singh Chaudhary is a retired BSF (Border Security Force) cadre officer of 1984 batch of Direct Entry officers, who advanced to the rank of Deputy Inspector General in Border Security Force (got NFU of IG rank). He has had a dynamic and valiant profession, evolving into one of the best civil architects for spearheading Operations, Aviation, Anti-Terrorist & Anti-Naxal Training, Capacity Building, Litigation, National Police Mission, Modernization of Police, Correctional Administration and Research.


Personal Life[edit]

He was born on 13th November 1958 in the culturally wealthy and traditionally enriching state of Madhya Pradesh, India. He married Mrs. Sanhita Chaudhary on 28th January 1987. Presently Mr. Chaudhary lives in Najafgarh, New Delhi with his family.

Education[edit]

He has been an avid learner throughout his life and his education background is an exceptional demonstration of the same. He obtained his first and second degree from Vikram University in Bachelor of Science in 1977 and in Master of Science in 1979, respectively. Later, he pursued and successfully completed Master of Business Administration in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. His unparalleled approach towards academia was soon followed by obtaining Bachelor of Laws from Jiwaji University in 1995.

While serving in BSF, Mr. Chaudhary underwent various courses in the prime training institutes of the country such as AC(DE), Combat Phase – 1 & 2 (CDO) Courses, YO’s CDO Course, CC(Tac) Course, Spl Weapon Course, International Humanitarian & law of Armed Conflict, Incident Management Course, Conflict Management Course etc. He also took training on Anti-Terrorism Assistance (ATA) Maritime Interdiction Course at Coast Guard Station, Okha-Dwarka under the ATA scheme of USA-India between


Career[edit]

Before joining BSF, Mr. Gajendra Singh Chaudhary served as a Chemistry Lecturer at Saifia College, Bhopal for 2 years. He has also served as an SI in MP Police for one year and worked with the Dairy Development Co-operation in Indore for a brief period of time in 1983.

He joined BSF in Sept. 1984 as an Assistant Commandant and advanced to the rank of DIG by the year 2009 (got IG NFU w.e.f. 1st April 2014). After his retirement from service in 2018, Mr. Chaudhary now works toward pedagogic and educative welfare by working as a Chief Administrative Officer in Delhi World Public School,Kandaghat Himachal Pradesh. During his service period, he was a part of numerous important operations, some of which are mentioned as below:


BPR&D[edit]

Mr. Chaudhary has a distinguished record of coordinating between Government, Ministry and Embassy to achieve national security and capacity building objectives. He has vast experience of Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D), where he worked for more than 5.5 years as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) - TRG, MOD, CA, and NPM, applying his proficiency in policy formulation, project direction, coordination, logistic management and training at national and international levels to earnest service. His well experienced background in independently leading large teams/groups in India and abroad to achieve organizational goals assisted him in revamping police infrastructure and steered by the aim to make the facilities more women friendly. He remained actively involved in planning, preparing and executing various training modules for Indian Police, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Police Officers from South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) and friendly countries, while supervising five central Detective Training School located in various part of country.

Three Member Mission to Afghanistan[edit]

Mr. Chaudhary, along with Shri K.K Mittal Joint Secretary (P-I), MHA and Ms. Anita Punj, IPS Deputy Director, NPA visited Afghanistan for a period of 04 days from 9th April 2012 to 12th April 2012 for discussion on cooperation with the Afghan National Police and met with various ministers and officials including Mr. Gautam Mukhopadhyaya, Indian Ambassador. They were responsible for a militant-resource-based mission to Afghanistan for delivering basic high-tech and trailblazing equipment to the Afghan National Police.


Rabha-Garo Conundrum[edit]

Mr. G.S Chaudhary served as DIG BSF – Tura, Meghalaya from 2009-2011 and when the Rabha and Garo community conflicts arose, he immediately assisted the State Administration to contain the conflict before it could worsen. He deployed BSF companies in affected areas, carried out flag march without much ado in order to safeguard precious lives and property. His initiatives were appreciated by the State Administration.

BSF Air Wing[edit]

Mr. Chaudhary also has vast experience in aviation as commandant of Border Security Force (BSF) Air Wing, which has Embraer, Beechcraft Super King Air, Avro, HAL Dhruv, HAL Light Utility Helicopter, MI-17 iv (Army Registered) Helicopters. He was Commandant of BSF Air Wing for 4 years and raised the BSF rotary wing.


Jammu & Kashmir[edit]

  1. Litigation

His background in law marshalled various legal works and directed his path to work as litigation officer and deal with various Habeas corpus Petitions and other Writ Petition at Jammu & Kashmir High Court, Srinagar. Besides this, he also dealt with various judicial enquiries and criminal cases registered against the BSF personnel while fighting with the militancy.

  1. Role in Anti-Terrorism

While serving in the Kashmir valley, Mr. G.S Chaudhary conducted various operations and eliminated many militants including Pak Missionaries. He also ceased huge quantity of arms, ammunitions, explosives, wireless sets and other items. His name was also recommended by the BSF Headquarter for awarding President Police Medal for Gallantry for the operation conducted in Kangan, Pulwama.

Mr. Gajendra Singh Chaudhary holds extensive experience in preparing DPR for National level projects.He has worked as a prosecuting, enquiry officer and defense counsel in various Department Enquiries conducted by the Vigilance Commission of Gudta. He has a vast experience in Security Force Court of BSF in different capacities.

Education Sector[edit]

Mr. Gajendra Singh Chaudhary holds extensive experience in preparing DPR for National level projects towards Indian Coast Guard Academy, Central Detective Training School (CDTS), Central Academy for Police Training (CAPT) Bhopal, Traffic management Institute & Counterinsurgency and Anti-Terrorism Schools. He is now actively working as Chief Administrative Officer in DWPS Kandaghat, Himachal Pradesh.


Other Works & Expertise[edit]

  • He remained associated with the National Conference for Heads of Prisons of States and union territories of India where various issues pertaining to prison inmates including involvement of Nongovernmental organization (NGO) in Prison & Convectional Administration were discussed.
  • He was also actively associated with the 4 National TRG symposiums of Heads of Police TRG institutes where various issues relating to capacity building of state & central police were discussed.
  • He remained actively involved in Homeland security dialogue with United States (U.S.A.).
  • Mr. Chaudhary has solid management skills, capable of leading & motivating individuals and teams to maximize levels from the front, while setting personal examples and forming cohesive team environments. He is an exceptional communicator who laid the troops in many encounters in J&K, Punjab & NE.
  • He visited Paris as a course coordinator along with the team of Police officers of various states and carried out detailed study on Traffic Management of Rural and Urban France along with the investigation on vehicular accidents and traffic violations.

  • Received multiple Commendation Cards/Rolls Kashmir FTR, actions in various operations, neutralizing of militants and recovery of huge quantity of arms & ammunitions.
  • Honored with various Commendation Rolls for his sincerity, hard-work, dedication, devotion to duty and excellent performance during the 20th Raising Day Celebration of FC&M FTR, for successfully organizing the 31st Symposium of Heads of Police Training Institution, organizing 7th Women in Police and workshop at Chandigarh for women investigating offers.
  • Received a DG's Commendation Roll in recognition of his significant contribution in the smooth conduct of Bihar State Assembly Election in the year 2010 where he was the Nodal Officer for Bihar.
  • Received an Appreciation Letter from Director General of police in the year 2016 for his commitment during the 5th National Conference of Heads of Prisons of States & UTs on Prison Reforms from 29-30 September 2016.
  • Received a Commendation Card in recognition of his professional acumen, high degree of professionalism and supervising abilities which resulted in commendable achievements in operational and administrative functioning of the FIR during the year 2017 and also organized and supervised various operations in the field and other administrative events being observed at Force level, in an excellent manner showing an apt example of leadership and coordination abilities, which got appreciation from all the quarters.
