Libertarianism.org is a website supported by the Cato Institute that aims to be a definitive source on the history, theory, and practice of libertarianism. The creation of the website was largely spearheaded by Aaron Ross Powell, who works for the Cato Institute.

The website was launched in November 2011.[1]

Videos and multimedia[edit]

The website features a large number of exclusive videos from the 1970s to the present, many of which were recorded using videotapes and were uploaded to the Internet for the first time for libertarianism.org.[2] This includes video of Murray Rothbard, Friedrich Hayek, Milton Friedman, Joan Kennedy Taylor, Ron Paul, David Friedman, David Boaz, Walter E. Williams, Gordon Tullock, James Buchanan, and many others.

Backgrounders[edit]

The website has an introduction to libertarianism, pages on the history of libertarianism and key people in the libertarian movement, as well as a reading list of pro- and anti-libertarian literature.

Blog[edit]

The site has a regularly updated blog[3] that covers theoretical and philosophical issues related to libertarianism. Blog contributors include Aaron Ross Powell, John Samples, Jason Kuznicki, Trevor Burrus, Miles Pope, and others.

The site's Facebook page had over 25,000 likes as of June 2012.[8]
