George Tutunjian[edit]

George Tutunjian (Armenian: Ճորճ (Գեւորգ) Թութունճեան, Geworg T’ut’unč̣ean) (born c. 1930 in Aleppo, Syria - died November 7, 2006, at 12:55 PM, in Montreal, Canada) was a singer of Armenian patriotic and revolutionary songs and lifelong supporter of Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF).

He started singing at the age of 22. Later on, Tutunjian used to perform with his four sons who were musically inclined. His oldest son played the piano, another son, the guitar, a third joined in vocals. He built a reception hall now owned and run by his three sons. He sang on Armenian stages for over 50 years and was an inspiration for many other Armenian singers such as Karnig Sarkissian, Harout Pamboukjian, Nersik Ispiryan. Being a pioneer in this genre, he helped accelerated the careers of such singers, with Karnig, being a protégé of George.

Tutunjian's fame was truly worldwide and his songs were spread throughout the Armenian diaspora and clandestinely on Soviet Armenia during Communist rule. He eventually settled in Montreal, Canada, where he died at the age of 76.

Julyo and Vika started to perform as DJ and VJ duo in Tokyo, gaining popularity in the Japanese underground scene as one of the pioneers of 'color-sound music' in the electronic music scene. During 2008 the Photosonic Orchestra performed extensively in Europe along with DJ Cheeba and during the same year Julyo started a 3 years residency at the Village as DJ and VJ. During late 2009 due to health problems Vika left the Photosonic Orchestra and relocated to Berlin, Germany.

Julyo decided to keep the band name as Photosonic Orchestra and get Polish singer Martyna Halas, Irish drummer Reece Wardrop and bass player Steven Conroy in the project line up.

The band broke up in late 2011.

Solo

After break-up of Photosonic Orchestra, Julyo moved back focusing on his solo career, in particular doing gigs as DJ, VJ and guitar player. Thanks to a series of sold out gigs with Goldie and Alex M.o.r.p.h. the reputation as VJ was consolidated and by the end 2011 Julyo become a quite a name in the Dublin underground music scene. Julyo has celebrated the 4th year as resident DJ and VJ at Dublin famous weekly live music night the King Kong Club, performing every week at the Dublin infamous battle-of-the-bands night along with Keiron Campbell (Amazing Few), Hazey Lake and DJ Saul.

Flavel & Netto are a singing duo based in France specializing in Latin-based dance music, but greatly influenced by Angolan kizomba music. They are signed to Five Music label and are mostly famous with their singles "Eu quero tchu, eu quero tcha" and "Pedida perfeita (Tararatata)", the latter featuring Anna Torres.

Career Flavel (born c. 1993) is a Brazilian singer residing in France. Passionate about music and soccer, he developed his singing skills early inspired by zouk, R'n'B and very notably by kizomba, a genre of music originating in Angola and very popular with French Cape Verdean community. Neto Furtado (born c. 1992) coming from an immigrant family to France originating from Cape Verde was a childhood friend of Flavel. Neto had been heavily influenced by samba and kizomba and had started writing songs at age 13.

The duo's interest in kizomba and dance music caught the attention of Akad, a producer with Five Music label that already was producing African-French acts, notably Logobi GT, one of the biggest acts in logobi music. Akad signed Flavel & Neto to the label and produced the song "Eu quero tchu, eu quero tcha" for the duo. The song was already popular in a version by Brazilian Música sertaneja duo João Lucas e Marcelo, with the Brazilian footballer (soccer player) Neymar featured in a cameo appearance in the music video dancing to its tune..[29]. Neymar had a hand in popularizing Michel Telo's "Ai se eu te pego!" and Gusttavo Lima's "Balada" earlier with notable public performances of those songs. João Lucas e Marcelo single eventually reached the top of the charts in Brazil. The Flavel & Neto version of the song, became their first official release in July 2012. It found almost immediate success in French and European dance venues. It also gained favor with zumba aerobic dance clubs throughout France. Such clubs had been instrumental in promoting many Latin-based tunes throughout Europe.

Flavel & Neto follow up single was "Pedida perfeita (Tararatata)" released in February 2013 featuring the Brazilian female singer Anna Torres. The release proved to be an even bigger commercial success for the duo. What accentuated its success was that Flavel & Neto, in addition to the Portuguese version, quickly released a bilingual French/Portuguese one for the French markets. The song composed by Cássio Sampaio charted in the SNEP official French Singles Chart reaching number 19 in the chart with heavy rotation on dance-based radio stations in the country. Other versions popularizing the song were by Gabriela Moraes and by Maykow & Mandioca.

He is the co-founder of Gay-ville,[35] a gay-friendly vacation rental service headquartered in Tel Aviv. He became a prominent Israeli gay personality after being chosen as the cover model of the Spartacus International Gay Guide for the 2011-2012 issue, which led to various magazine covers around the world.

After completing his military service, Eliad Cohen began a modelling career,[36] later branching into organizing of events, most notably Arisa and PAPA series, promotion of Tel Aviv Gay Pride events and various activities in support of gay-friendly Israeli tourism. He also established a prominent online service through his own Gay-ville website.[37]

Career Eliad is well known for his role as the presenter of the Arisa party series,[38] which is the first international party dedicated to Mizrahi, a form of Middle Eastern influenced music. The Arisa videos have proved very popular and have an international following online. But they have also drawn criticism for their depiction of various themes and characters.[40] In November 2011, the Arisa party line traveled to São Paulo, Brazil where Eliad and the rest of the Arisa team were featured in front of an audience of nearly 1,000 people.[38]

In February 2013, Out magazine voted him as second in its "Top 10: Eligible Bachelors" feature with top spot going to Chris Colfer. Joe McElderry came third.[35][46][47][44] The survey was based on a public vote.

Eliad has been featured in several international publications, including appearing on the cover of DNA (Australia), Junior (Brazil), and featured in interviews and articles in Têtu (France), Männer (Germany), Time Out Tel Aviv (Israel) and in the Gay Times (UK). His appearance on the cover of Spanish gay publication OhMyGod created controversy when Spanish photographer Juan Pablo Santamaria depicted Eliad Cohen under the provocative title "Eliad Cohen: El nuevo mesías gay de Israel" (Eliad Cohen: the new gay messiah of Israel).[48]

He has also appeared in the 2012 documentary Undressing Israel: Gay Men in the Promised Land written and directed by Michael Lucas,[49] adult-film entrepreneur and gay activist who had directed earlier Men of Israel in his debut as a documentary filmmaker. The documentary features interviews with a diverse range of local Israeli GLBT personalities including Eliad Cohen, talking about their experiences as an Israeli gay community.

Personal life Eliad was born on May 11, 1988 in Akko, Israel. After completing high school, he served in the Israel Defense Forces in an elite combat unit for three years. After completing his army service, Eliad moved to Tel Aviv where he worked as a barman in various bars and clubs before launched his career. He also ventured into modelling and posed for a number of advertisements. He always wears the chai, as a sign of pride in Israel.[38] Cohen is openly gay[39] after coming out to his parents when he was twenty years old.[43]

Alexandru Cătălin Mica (born August 25, 1991, Bucovat, near Timișoara), known as Alex Mica, is a Romanian dance/pop music singer. He is best known for the song "Dalinda", which reached the top of music charts in Romania. He sings in Romanian, English and Spanish.

Beginnings Alex discovered his attraction for music from age of 5. He started to wrote poetry at the age of 15 and it became his second big passion, after music. He grew up in Bucovat, a small village near Timișoara, where he lived until age 14, along with his parents, sister and grandfather.

In childhood, he was a part of the church choir alongside his grandfather, who saw a big potential in him. Alex' first appearance on stage was when he was 9 at a musical contest of young talents. He studied at the National College of Arts "Ion Vidu" in Timișoara, at the department of classical singing.

Career At the age of 17, in 2008, he participated at the preselection of season 3 of the Romanian Megastar show where he reached the finals along with Sign band (made up of Alex Mica, Razvan Stef and Andi Grasu). Then he participated at the National Festival of Music "Dan Spataru" where he got the "Special Award of Ilfov County Council" and became the winner of the trophy "Stelele Cetatii" (City's Stars) - Deva.

In 2011, he came on the Romanian music market through the collaboration with George Hora and Puya on "Doamna si Vagabondul" (The Lady and The Tramp). Afterwards, he collaborated with the artists from HaHaHa Production for recording the chorus of the song "Save Save", whereupon he released the hit-single "Señorita" with Allexinno & Starchild. The song was composed by Alex Mica and he sang the chorus on the release. In short time, he launched "Mi Corazon" along with DJ Fabio da Lera.

In the late 2011, Alex released "Dalinda", a song he co-wrote with Dony (Cornel Donici) and The Kid (Florin Cioran), and released with 1Artist Music. The song became hugely popular becoming one of the smash hits of 2012 in Romania, reaching #19 in the annual ranking. It peaked at #9 in April 2012.

Alex Mica remained signed to 1Artist Music for 3 years. At the end of the contract, Alex left Constanta and returned in his hometown, Timișoara, launching a collaboration with Voices Media label . His first single with the new label was "Nu mai cred in tine" (I no longer trust you).. The song featured additional vocals by Eli.
