Disclosure[edit]

[edit]

  1. The paid service that I provide is a writing and editing service that conforms to the Wikipedia format, policies and guidelines. My service is much like a person offering writing services in a legal services environment.
  2. As of July 2016, I have only been paid by one subject to help update their Wikipedia page. I have not been paid by any other clients, to perform any work on Wikipedia.
  3. As of May 2018, I have been paid by one further subject to update a Wikipedia page.
  4. I acknowledge that I am not employed by any third-party company. I work only on a freelance basis.
  5. I do not guarantee that the client, or subject, is notable enough to sustain a Wikipedia article and I decline all "must publish" agreements.
  6. Most people do not have the time or inclination to learn the Manual of Style, and other guidelines and policies, just to create or contribute a single article or to update their respective pages. Additionally, I acknowledge writing one's own biography for the Wikipedia is highly discouraged. (especially in cases where notability has already been established and volunteer efforts have fallen short.)
  7. My writing service "is not in conflict with the goals of the Wikipedia." I fully intend for my writing to only cover notable creators and their works and that these are articles that the Wikipedia wants. I discourage the client from publishing if they do not have the required references.
  8. Again, I am paid to write, not to publish.
  9. This is my only account, used for volunteer and paid editing.
  10. In July 2016 I had volunteer editors remove images that I uploaded via the Wikipedia Commons, for other subjects for which I have had past volunteer editor interest. I admit that I incorrectly uploaded these images (assuming that I was properly uploading via "fair use"), all in my process of learning Wikipedia's proper standards & practices. I have learned from these mistakes and I now know the proper means of "fair use" image uploading.

[edit]

Concerning recent developments concerning Paid editing (policy) of June 2014.

I have elected to use the Talk page method for paid-editing disclosure on articles that I create or edit. Any edits to other articles (Wiki - markup etc.) are disclosed in the summary line of all edits.

On the paid articles that I do accept, my compensated involvement begins and ends with the editing of an existing article that describes the subject in neutral-terms and in a flat technical writing format. I acknowledge that the perception from many Wikipedia editors on what "appears" to be advertising can be subjective, and I welcome the input from the Wikipedia community.

"If you and I are engaged in an article's talk page discussion." Please understand that I am not trying to be disruptive. A considerable amount of research may have gone into the article, so I do follow these articles (WP:Stewardship), I am not resistant to constructive edits, but let's take them to the talk page first, there may be reasons why something is written the way it is.

[edit]

I also place template:Paid article on the relevant article's talk pages, ancillary edits to related articles will be noted in the edit summary.

Michael Lington[edit]

Michael Lington is an Award winning and world-renowned saxophonist. Beginning in July 2016, I will be cleaning up his existing article, adding many additional references and listing accomplishments.
