August 2020[edit]

Hello, I'm Materialscientist. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Richard Hammond, but you didn't provide a source. I’ve removed it for now, but if you’d like to include a citation to a reliable source and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Materialscientist (talk) 17:39, 4 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be repeatedly reverting or undoing other editors' contributions. Although this may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is known as "edit warring" and is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, as it often creates animosity between editors. Instead of reverting, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to lose their editing privileges. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, and violating the three-revert rule is very likely to result in loss of your editing privileges. Thank you. Sorry. We have rules. Maybe that's a surprise. Martinevans123 (talk) 19:33, 4 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Some of the rules were a surprise, yes. But apparently you can revert edits for reasons easily proven to be incorrect/false. You reverted an edit saying it was "not yet commissioned" when the source literally said the exact opposite. How do you square that one?

Anonymous users from this IP address have been blocked temporarily from editing from certain pages (Richard Hammond) for edit warring.
During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Glen (talk) 19:10, 4 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Nah, keep me blocked[edit]

Go ahead and leave the block in place. I won't be touching wiki articles again. I tried, in good faith, to add to a wikipedia page, and was reverted by others, for what seem to me to be false reasons. I posted my thoughts on the talk page on richard hammond's wiki talk page. Someone else can make the additions. I will not any longer.

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).
