No, and the reason why is that why does your "facts" override mine. To illustrate the secessionists themselves said "Our new government is founded upon exactly the opposite idea; its foundations are laid, its corner–stone rests upon the great truth, that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery — subordination to the superior race — is his natural and normal condition." and "Our position is thoroughly identified with the institution of slavery", I could provide more quotes where they (at the time) said the issue was slavery. So I guess you’re just making the claim that morality is objective then? Can you prove that? I feel like you’re misunderstanding me and trying to make a simultaneous ad hominem and straw man argument to assert that I support slavery in some way. I absolutely do not. I just don’t think any claim that can’t be reasonably “proven” can be said to be “true.”

No I’m just trying to make a distinction between subjective and objective morality, of course slavery is immoral in my opinion. But it’d be foolish not to acknowledge some framework by which other humans hold differing opinions. The thread was NOT about whether the ACW was about slavery, that historical fact was never in question. The only ‘fact’ in question is the assertion ‘It is pseudohistorical to call slavery just/heroic’, as these aren’t really historical notions at all, they’re pseudo-philosophical if anything. 2001:56A:FE18:2400:9CD5:2667:4C14:1805 (talk) 17:49, 7 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
