Information icon Hello, I'm Egsan Bacon. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, 2024 United States presidential election in New York, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Egsan Bacon (talk) 17:42, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Do I need to provide a citation for information that can clearly be found in multiple places? I simply noted that Democrats have won by at least 15% beginning in 1992, and the polling data, which is also included in this article, shows a notable reduction in the margin compared to previous elections. 24.106.36.109 (talk) 17:44, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, you do need to show that reliable sources are commenting that the reduction is "notable", otherwise it's just your opinion that it's worth mentioning. Combining information from multiple sources to come to a conclusion not explicitly stated by those sources is considered synthesis of published material and is against policy.
