Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a message letting you know that one or more of your recent edits to No. 255 Squadron RAF has been undone by an automated computer program called ClueBot NG.

October 2014[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "255 Squadron Association", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it implies shared usage and usernames that are likelihood of shared usage are not permitted.. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you. Anupmehra -Let's talk! 15:51, 20 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

There is no shared useage; only one person has the password. That person - me - acts on behalf of a group of individuals who are not a "body corporate" in the legal sense. We do, from time to time, discuss in advance the page content to be uploaded - but only I do the uploads.
Members of the group are all first generation descendants of former members of the Squadron, a group that is officially recognised by the RAF and details of which (by name, address, telephone number and e-mail address) appear on the rafweb.org website which is linked from the section "External Links".
I trust that the above satisfies your concerns.

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. Thank you. This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

An objection was raised to the current Username on the grounds that it implies representation of a group. 255 Squadron Association (talk) 14:13, 23 October 2014 (UTC)

Too close to the current name. — Daniel Case (talk) 02:32, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, all you need to do is click here and it will allow you to make a new account, just as you did the first time you created an account. Remember to use an e-mail address so you can request a new password should you forget your password though. Nick (talk) 14:20, 23 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding further objection to new Username[edit]

A further objection has been raised, criticising a new Username on the grounds that it is too similar to the old one. I do not understand why that is a relevant matter. Surely the pertinent question is "Would the new Username have been acceptable had it been the one chosen in the first instance?" Can the objector (or anyone else with Administrator powers) please explain. 255 Historian (talk) 08:58, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
