1970[edit]
I appreciate the lengthy response, but you are still mistaken. Here is a report from the Hydrometeorological Prediction Center on the depression. Here is the link that the National Hurricane Center published on tropical depressions from 1970. Although it doesn't mention the depression by name, it does indicate the same depression that the HPC report does. The article is a good article and has plenty of references to prove it actually exists. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 14:08, 18 July 2011 (UTC)
- Actually, tropical depressions back then were much less than what current TD's are. They didn't have full advisories, and from what I've heard they were classified for almost any area of disturbed weather (like a current invest). It didn't rival 2005 by any means. As for 1970, no one has added the remaining depressions in yet. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 14:29, 18 July 2011 (UTC)
- No, as I said, the 1970 Atlantic hurricane season article isn't finished/complete. No one has added in the other depressions. As for the National Hurricane Center, no, they don't include the depressions in the best track or in their season summary. Here is the list that includes all of the depressions (and there are even inconsistencies there). The depression did exist, rest assured. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 14:37, 18 July 2011 (UTC)
- Well, like I said, there are inconsistencies. The list doesn't include some depressions that the MWR pages (like this) have. The seasons are marked as incomplete on the talk pages by virtue of being C, start, or stub class. More recently it isn't a problem, since the NHC has standardized naming depressions and providing info on them (such as issuing advisories). As for consistency in the articles, believe me, I've tried. However, no one is in a hurry because it is, admittedly, on the confusing side. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 14:50, 18 July 2011 (UTC)
- Yea, feel free to bring this up on the Wikiproject talk page. I've tried but haven't had luck in the past with trying to get some sort of standardization. I, for one, don't think every last depression from the 60's and 70's should be included, particularly if they only have minimal mentions in any recognized sources. --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 23:55, 18 July 2011 (UTC)
