Welcome

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Here are some other hints and tips:

  • I would recommend that you get a username. You don't have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikipedia, but creating an account is quick, free and non-intrusive, requires no personal information, and there are many benefits of having a username. (If you edit without a username, your IP address is used to identify you instead.)
  • When using talk pages, please sign your name at the end of your messages by typing four tildes (~~~~). This will automatically produce your username (or IP address) and the date.

If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or type {{helpme}} on this talk page and a user will help you as soon as possible. I will answer your questions as far as I can. Again, welcome, and I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian. --AW 17:56, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

October 2008[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. The recent edit you made to Westmeston has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. Use the sandbox for testing; if you believe the edit was constructive, ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Thank you. October 2009[edit]

Please do not add unsourced or original content, as you did with this edit to Burgess Hill. Doing so violates Wikipedia's verifiability policy. If you continue to do so, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia.   — Jeff G. (talk|contribs) 18:23, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I apologise for reverting your valid edit to Lancing. It just looked improbable.--Charles (talk) 18:30, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

But Burgess Hill is definitely not in Lewes District, which is in East Susses. It is in Mid Sussex district of West Sussex. Lewes district must have the contract for their refuse collection.--Charles (talk) 18:43, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Burgess Hill is of course primarily in Mid Sussex district, but partially (and surprisingly) in the Lewes District of East Sussex. The county border goes behind Oakroyd close in the north east of the town, cuts across Charlwood Road and Theobalds Road, and then cuts across Valebridge Road. All the houses in Downscroft and Charlwood Gardens and many houses in other roads in the north east of the town are in Lewes District; hence the rubbish collection, planning applications for this area. Although in the Wivelsfield parish, they are part of the built up area of Burgess Hill. 80.229.16.243 (talk) 19:10, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

OK. You will get less flak if you set up a user account instead of appearing as an IP address. We get IP vandalism all the time and it takes too long to verify everything that comes up. It is also more anonymous if you use a pen name.--Charles (talk) 20:02, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, thanks, I'll look at doing that. Could I ask whether the same link that I used for verifying Lewes District could be used to verify the county Burgess Hill being partially in East Sussex? 80.229.16.243 (talk) 21:05, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest you contact User:Hassocks5489 who has done an awesome amount of work on that area and may know of better refs or maps.--Charles (talk) 21:35, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

August 2010[edit]

Hello. If your intentions are good then feel free to cancel my revert, but the nature of your editing gave me and other similar editors the impression that you were making random unconstructive edits. The repeated characters "xxxx" did look somewhat out of the ordinary, coupled with your empty summary boxes. If you do wish to make any edits on these settlements, please atleast use the summary so that users known what your intention is. Many thanks. Evlekis (Евлекис) 23:51, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
