October 2019[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm LuK3. I noticed that you recently removed content from Declan McGonagle without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. -- LuK3 (Talk) 23:50, 6 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.
I would suspect LuK3 that these edits were an attempt to cover the subject's history by the subject himself. Hesperian Nguyen (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 19:11, 14 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Further on this point LuK3 another 'anonymous' user under an Irish IP address 79.97.159.109 blanked an entire section about one of the same issues: The NCAD controversy. Smells fishy to me. Hesperian Nguyen (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 23:51, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
LuK3 Hesperian Nguyen Nothing fishy here at all. What seems unusual is the biased viewpoint from which you are coming from. It is extremely one sided and unbalanced and gives a very distorted representation of the subject. To create a "Controversy" section and present your own viewpoint in such a distorted way seems like you have a personal grievance with the subject. Correct me if I am wrong but I do not believe this is the purpose of Wikipedia, and is certainly not the place to air such grievances. I can also state that I am not the 'subject himself' but someone who understands the art scene here and in particular community based art.
Assuming this unsigned comment is from 89.100.235.151. My contributions to the article are based exclusively on online research from sources like RTE, The Irish Times, The Sunday Times, Trinity College, SIPTU... Further, I do not know the subject of this article, nor live in Ireland, nor am an artist, graduate of NCAD or what have you. Suppressing relevant information is in fact the bias. Your bias, and totally unsupported claims. Hesperian Nguyen (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 15:26, 19 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

LuK3 Hesperian Nguyen

It is. So out of the sources listed, and the vast information about the subject within each of those media outlets, you’re telling us that this is all you could find that was relevant to post here about the subject; on a public forum encyclopedia which can be used as a reference point? Why have you only focused on what are primarily negatives of a career that is a lot more than "controversies" as you state? Do you create a section like this for all people you claim not to know? To very specifically state that you are not a graduate of NCAD is quite odd for someone who says they are not based in Ireland or the arts. And stating that after you published a photo directly linked to NCAD and credited it as 'your own work'? Next you will be saying you have never been on Thomas Street or don’t know that the gates of NCAD are blue.

You have not given a full history here at all, rather a brief and short back history which discounts a lot of information, followed by a detailed section created around your own viewpoint. For example, no where in the NCAD article linked does it say "McGonagle was effectively forced to resign from NCAD…” yet you have stated that here as fact. This is your opinion, not fact and is extremely misleading.

To then block the page from any edits is risible. As I said before you clearly have a grievance with the subject that has no place here. Why else would you overhaul a page that was full of facts and real quotes with citations/references/links to articles? As you wrote yourself on March 11th 2019 at 23:54: "I overhauled this pretty heavily. I removed most of the self \-promotion sounding stuff, added a very necessary 'Controversy’ section.” These are facts that can't be changed by opinions, and ones that don’t need to be manipulated in any way. The only person suppressing relevant information here is you.

Hi 89.100.235.151, I'm glad to hear you are not Declan McGonagle because to edit your own page is a clear COI and to Blank sections to suppress unfavorable information would warrant blocking your IP address(es). But what I don't understand is... if you are just "someone who understands the art scene here and in particular community based art" then why aren't you interested in reporting well sourced information on the decades of indictable/inept actions McGonagle has made – while personally benefiting – at the public's expense?
