Ancient Egypt

Hi, glad to see you are interested in ancient Egypt! We've been working hard to make the page better recently, hope you can help. In regards to your question, I checked the logs, and I don't see anything you added to ancient Egypt and I don't see that anything got deleted, so I'm not sure how to answer your question. Anyway, you can check out Portal:Egyptology for a good overview, and feel free to let me know if you have any other questions. Good to have you aboard. I think I see what happened now. Because ancient Egypt is such a popular article and gets vandalized all the time, it has been semi-protected so that unregistered or new users can't edit it. Once your account is 4 days old, you will be able to edit it. If you don't want to wait that long, you can ask me or any established editor to put it in for you. License tagging for Image:Slinky 2.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Slinky 2.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

Re: "Did you know?" links

I see that you have been trying to add article listings to the Did you know? section on the WP:KMT portal. Since you are new you may not be aware that this in fact refers to a specific set of pages whose content appeared in a summarized format (typically one or two lines of text), and are noted as such on their talk page, like this one for the Reserve head article. It's not just any old article of interest (though they may well be interesting. Another quick point: spelling case matters when referring to a link page. Cheers! Re: Adding name to Ancient Egypt portal

I think what you are asking is how you add your name to the member's list? If so, go to Wikipedia:WikiProject_Ancient_Egypt/Members and edit the page there. Best thing to do would be to take the last entry (starting at the "*" and ending with "contribs]])") paste the copy one line below, and then substitute your own user name in place of the previous user. Click on the "Show preview" button to see if you have got it right, and if so, click "Save page".

The watchlist is the only way. It's not necessarily that you did anything wrong, but the attitude came across as ownership, as the other editor pointed out. The regular editors really, really, really are annoyed by people who come around and act like they own an article. It makes things really difficult, see this for an example. I'm sorry if I came across as a bit harsh, but I'd rather get your attention to the own policy now, than spend a week going around in circles wasting everyone's time. As to the article, it needs some work, mainly third party media coverage of the school to show notability. By adding citations to the info, this will also ensure accuracy (which you said you were worried about) and others will tend to remove unsourced items from a well sourced article, thus ensuring integrity. It's OK to keep a list on your user page, many people do. See Wikipedia:User page for guidelines concerning the user page. Also, with your user boxes, see this for some already made ones if you like, but you are free to keep the ones you have. Plus you can add {{User WikiProject Oregon}} if you haven't already. Thank you for adding your opinion/vote to the Talk:KV62 re: KV62 -> Tomb of Tutankhamen. I wanted to solicit opinions/votes from those I thought might have a real interest in the issue. Ultimately the main thrust of the argument for centers around WP:NC, which I think is being too broadly applied in this instance (but that's my opinion). Though I read more oppose votes than for, in the end there was no consensus (a simple majority may not apply in this case) to move, so there's every chance the debate will continue sometime in the future. Holiday COTW

Greetings to all the WikiProject Oregon crew. Happy holidays to those who celebrate holidays. Thanks to those who helped out with last week’s articles Oregon Garden and Robert B. Duncan. Due to the holidays and people likely to be spending less time on Wikipedia, the new Collaboration of the Week will run for two weeks (OK actually I’ll be out of the country, but same difference). The first item will be a general Reference Improvement Drive. So find an article, source an tagged sentence or bring all the citations up to WP:CITE standards. The other item is a Tagging Drive, looking for those random articles about Oregon that do not yet have a {{WikiProject Oregon}} tag on the talk page. New Year COTW from WP:ORE

Happy New Year to all the Oregon WikiProject People. A big round of applause for everyone last year, we got a lot done. A thank you to everyone who helped with the last Collaboration of the Week, I saw a large number of articles in the unassessed section and our total number of articles is over 5000 (we were around 4000 in June when the assessment program finished the initial run) so I know at one person was busy tagging. This week we are back to a High importance Stub article the one and only max security prison, first prison, and only one with a death row in the state, the Oregon State Penitentiary. Oregon GA COTW

Howdy to WikiProject Oregon members, time for another edition of the Collaboration of the Week. As you may have already noticed, our flagship article Oregon is up for the third time as we make a push to get WP:GA status before going for WP:FA. Since this will take some time to get where it needs to be, this will be the COTW for more than just a week. On another note, just a general good job/pat on the back to the project for a great 2007, the first full year of the project. We had 83 DYKs about Oregon, improved one article to FA, and went from around 4 GAs to 17 GAs. Wake up! Wake up to a happy day! Says Tom Peterson. Greetings to the gang at WP:ORE, its time for another round of Collaboration of the Week. Last week was a very successful endeavor with great improvement to Oregon Swallowtail and Deuce Biglow Canyon Wind Farm. OK, so there’s no “e” but it makes me laugh. The Biglow production was so successful we got our first DYK out of it. So, let’s try for a second with the tallest building in the state, the Wells Fargo Center. Clown COTW

Greetings once again to members of the best encyclopedia online about Oregon (aka WP:ORE)! Last week we improved Neil Goldschmidt to close to GA level, and moved the Wells Fargo Center from Stub to Start for the Collaboration of the Week. This week we’re clowning around with some bozo from Oregon, Pinto Colvig, and then in an attempt to garner another DYK, the rather stubby Cooper Spur. WP:Egypt is up and running

Wikipedia:EGYPT is up and running and we need lots of Collaboration. We are currently working on Cairo Metro as a Collaboration article and need as much help as possible.
