Rhetorical Analysis and Evaluation[edit]

Strengths: - Has a clear introduction, explains what the movie was based on and who was involved in it. - The structure is clear and it flows nicely from one topic to the next. - It does have balanced coverage; the article covers both the movies accomplishments and the critiques. - The coverage is pretty neutral, it tells all sides of how the movie was received, however the critique section does not really contain any critiques. - The article has many sources, some of them are reliable, others do not seem fully reliable. Does have a good amount of references. - There is a good talk page. - Citations occur when they should. Weaknesses: - A lot of articles, not all of them seem reliable - The plot summary is well written, however it seems to cover maybe a little more than it really needs to. - The section about critiques does not really contain any critiques 4. The article was started in October of 2003. It was very small and only contained a small plot summary and cast list. Material was added slowly, almost every month since it was originally started. There are many different users that edited and added to the page. The last edit before mine was made March 29 of this year. It took 14 years for the article to look like it does now. It seems to still be active because people are still making edits. 5. The editors used the talk page somewhat often, mainly to answer others’ questions and to point out if something did not make sense to add to the article. Occasionally the tone seemed to veer slightly towards being hostile however it never fully reached that point. Overall most of the editors seemed polite when using the page. I see some of the same editors on the talk page that I saw on the history page.

Brandon Flynn 18. *90s grunge (style) - I think this belongs on Wikipedia because a lot of the style is coming back and it would be a cool thing to compare the fashion from then to the fashion now. I think it is notable enough because it is a type of fashion and fashion is a huge industry. It would be interesting to research what/who made the grunge style big. It would be verifiable because grunge is still very well known. Other things to research would include grunge which has a Wikipedia page), 1990s (has a page), music from that time (has a page - 1990s in music), other clothing styles for comparison. Sources for this would be found online.

I couldn't strike through the topics I wasn't using so the asterix indicates the one I chose.

Prepare for an Article[edit]

I looked at the "1980s in Western Fashions" page. The editors included an image gallery to provide visuals for what they were talking about; I think that would be something good to imitate. They organized the article first by doing a brief introduction about the fashion during that time, then they went into women's fashion and broke that into subcategories of early, middle, and late years describing the different fashions. Then they did the same thing with men's fashion. Then they wrote about unisex accessories, then subcultures of that time, followed by hairstyles, and finishing with an image gallery. They include a lot of information about the types of music listened to during the 1980s and the different kinds of fashion that existed. They have a wide variety of sources ranging from websites to magazines to university articles. I don't think the editors missed anything for this page.

Potential Table of Contents: Introduction to the topic - background information and a short summary of the topic. Women's grunge fashion - most prominent styles and any differences in the years. Men's grunge Fashion - most prominent styles and any differences in the years. Famous singers/actors/actresses from that time that promoted or started the trend - who they were (background information on them) and their influence.

Starting Article- 90s Grunge[edit]

On the wikipedia article, "Grunge," there is a section where it briefly talks bout the clothing that was worn during that time period. The page mainly talks about the music but there is a brief description of the clothing. This page would be useful to get ideas and links for the article that our group is working on. There is also another wikipedia article on "Kinderwhore" that describes the kind of clothing that was worn during the 90s and artist who made the look popular.

What have these editors done that you’d like to imitate? I would like to imitate how they described the clothing and the examples they used to show what they were describing. The editors used magazines to quote what many celebrities did to achieve their grunge looks.

How have they organized the article? With what headings? The heading the editors used were Clothing and Style and the way they organized the article was by first describing the style and mentioning certain types of clothing that was worn like flannels, combat boots and much more. Then the second paragraph talks about those who were the influence of the style like Curt Cobain and Courtney Love.

What kind of information is included? Where do they get their sources from? Many links were included that lead to the type of clothing that was used to describe 90 grunge and it showed examples so the reader can understand visually. Other links included bands and celebrities that wore 90s grunge. Sources were mainly from magazines and music articles.

What did the editors miss that you would want to include? Nothing really, the editors did a great job briefly describing the style when the article was mainly on the grunge genre.

Preparation for 90's Grunge[edit]

Source: Punk Fashion What have these editors done that you’d like to imitate? They organize their article with different types of punk fashion. Then the descriptions are organized by timelines. Then within their times, they go in depth with the articles of clothing that were popular and influencers. Where do they get their sources from? Articles about rock icons, punk culture literature, music decade encyclopedias I liked how the editors set up the page- I definitely want to mimic the musical influences on our page. Also, pictures are very helpful for fashion pages. I would like to add other influences from pop culture like television and and movies. 1990's Grunge. Media--tv, movies, music. Based on Monday's library session, what holes do you see if any? What additional sources can be added?

The 90s are Back: How to get the look right One of the holes that was in the sources didn't give information on 90s grunge, it gave more information on 90s fashion. The source did include descriptive information and pictures but the information there was not on the topic our page is on.

Poneman, Jonathan. Features: Grunge & Glory. vol. 182, Condé Nast, New York, 1992. This article was publish from Vogue Magazine in 1992 and it will be a perfect edition to the article because it's from the 90s, making more accurate. The article talks about the highs and lows in 90s grunge.

Terry. "The Rebirth of Grunge." UpVenue. N.p., 16 Sept. 2010. Web. 11 Apr. 2017. This article talks about how 90s grunge was back then and how it is making a comeback in today's fashion. This article will be useful because it breaks down the fashion in the 1990s by year. For each year it focuses on what was the most prominent style. A hole for this source might be that it does not contain a lot of information about men's fashion but it does contain a good variety of fashions throughout the 1990s. What is useful about it is the fact that, under the section that writes about grunge, it gives specific tips on how to pull off the best grunge look. This can help us provide examples of what people wore in terms of grunge during the 90s.
