H7N3[edit]

Please read this. The incident in Ark. was not an outbreak. It was an exposure to a low pathogenic (nondeadly) strain of H7N3 which comes in both low pathogenic (LPAI) and high pathogenic (HPAI) strains of Avian Influenza viruses. As these exposures occur many times a year in that state alone, such LPAI exposures are non-notable. WAS 4.250 (talk) 20:43, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

2008 casualty estimates[edit]

You have now reverted three times, at least, to the same phrasing. That is seriously discouraged; please read [[WP:3RR}}. In this case, it is also misleading: the estimates of 133 and 1492 were made by different persons on different days, and the text to which you revert implies that they are the same list: 1492 total, of which 133 are confirmed. This is not true, and we should not imply it. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 22:27, 20 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I've clarified slightly, while making sure that "identified" stayed in. I think I need a break, though. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 22:49, 20 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits[edit]

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 23:24, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

please provide SOME explanation of your edits[edit]

You provided no explanation for your reversion of Hobartimus. An explanation on the Talk page may not be necessary IF an explanation is given in the edit summary. No explanation at all leaves editors guessing as to what your objection is.Bdell555 (talk) 18:40, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Anatoly, it is really important that we have some idea of the larger international tensions surrounding the war, something that this paragraph achieves. I have reinstated the original paragraph, but changed "Most..." to the more neutral "A number of..." reflecting your criticism. Orthorhombic (talk) 13:25, 25 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

3RR[edit]

You violated WP:3RR rule in article 2008 South Ossetia War. Please revert yourself back or you may be reported. Thanks, Biophys (talk) 17:52, 25 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please also note that calling another wikipedian "vandal" (you said: Elysander continued to vandalize the page at my talk page) is against WP:CIV policy, which may result in additional administrative sanctions. Please consider this a good faith advice, not a "threat".Biophys (talk) 20:01, 25 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Editing survey[edit]

Hi Anatoly.bourov. My name is Mike Lyons and I am a doctoral student at Indiana University in the United States. I am conducting research on the writing and editing of high traffic current events articles on Wikipedia. I have noticed in the talk page archives at 2008 South Ossetia war that you have contributed to the editing or maintenance of the article. I was hoping you would agree to fill out a brief survey about your experience. This study aims to help expand our thinking about collaborative knowledge production. Believe me I share your likely disdain for surveys but your participation would be immensely helpful in making the study a success. A link to the survey is included below. An explanation of my project is included with the survey.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
