Hi! I added to the page List_of_fictional_characters_who_can_manipulate_water. Here's the link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fictional_characters_who_can_manipulate_water I did something wrong on that page. Would you mind fixing it? Thanks! Neptunekh (talk) 03:22, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Aww, don't take it personally. :) It just seemed like one of those little things that comes from overcorrecting an overcorrection. "Gets underway" was pretty bad too. =p --Golbez (talk) 20:18, 7 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

MOS fixes to UK articles (ref Bletchley Park)[edit]

The US convention for dashes is text1—text2 but the UK convention is text1 – text2. So if you see text1 — text2, the appropriate way to correct it is to replace the — with an –, not remove the spaces. Which means that you need to assess the article first to decide which convention is appropriate, of course! --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 12:17, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I realised what you were doing and that it complies with the MoS. I just guessed incorrectly why you were doing it! --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 21:44, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WBOSITG's RfA[edit]

History of cannon used to be longer than Cannon#History, as it had originally been split off when the latter section got too long in certain areas. However, it was overtaken when the Squad started work on Cannon. Copy-pasting is the main thing to be done, but I expect there will be some areas where History of cannon will have information not included in Cannon.

I agree with your assessment, but I won't be able to take an active role in it myself before Cannon is on the main page. --Grimhelm (talk) 18:05, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks for your participation in my recent request for adminship. My recent RfA[edit]

Thank you for supporting my RfA, which unfortunately didn't succeed. The majority of the opposes stated that I needed more experience in the main namespace and Wikipedia namespace and talk space, so that is what I will do. I have made a list and I hope I will be able to get through it. I will go for another RfA in about three month's time and I hope you will be able to support me then as well. If you have any other comments for me or wish to be notified when I go for another RfA, please leave them on my talk page. If you wish to nominate me for my next RfA, please wait until it has been about three months. I will not be checking back to this page so if you would like to comment or reply please use my talk page. Thanks again for participating in my RfA! ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 06:36, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ender's Game[edit]

I have reverted a small part of a revision you made to Ender's Game. You left us with an incomplete sentence: "It is in this world that Andrew 'Ender' Wiggin." Walt Disney protection[edit]

I wonder if it would be better to nudge the ending date into sometime in JUNE of 2009, rather than May, so that the semester will be over before it expires again. Thank you! The sad part is that Wknight94 removed protection after the previous lengthy stretch, and almost immediately the vandals started in on it, as if they had been patiently waiting for months. Those were parodies of Walt Disney (or I should say "Walt Dizzy") characters in Mad Magazine back in the late 1950s. Mad was the same sophisticated journal then that it is now. :) Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 20:37, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ironically, the show/hide sections are from a technique I learned from the long-since-banned User:Tecmobowl, one of the most exasperating characters I've run into in wikipedia. That technique I borrowed from him is the one useful thing he contributed, from my standpoint. :\ Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 01:45, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The section which was being fought over was word-for-word already present in the Debate over the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. As such. I split the whole section off to a new article: Atomic bombings of Japan as a form of state terrorism. While the edit warring could well continue over there, there's no longer any need to protect the Allegations of state terrorism by the United States article, so please unprotect. -- Kendrick7talk 21:41, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Paul Diamond (lawyer)[edit]

I'd like to be able to make the current content more encyclopedia in tone, to make it conform to the WP:MOS, and without taking sides in the ongoing kerfluffle (I must admit, I have my suspicions about whether Logster has a COI or merely is a Diamond fan). I just want to purge the honorifics, the barristers' fustian and flourishes like "Mr. Justice So-and-So QB" and "Miss This" [i.e., the complainant) and the like. --Orange Mike | Talk 16:16, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, AndonicO, the appropriate revision is this one, because the current revision takes out some substantial material which has come since. This is what today's edit-kerfuffle is about. I would ask you to keep in mind that Thelogster is pursuing some silly agenda, and is quibbling over whether to include a sentence that talks about this barrister's latest client. As you can see, s/he is only intent on editting this page. I think that it's a bit sad really. I wonder if his/her IP address matches the person who was vandalising the page at the start, who got blocked? The point is that that sentence is being repeatedly deleted, and though s/he keeps on writing on my talk page that it should be put elsewhere has not done so. Wikidea 16:40, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have and am concerned about the neutrality of the Paul Diamond article. It seems that wikidea has always wanted to use language in the article that is leaved the reader with a negative view on the work that Paul Diamond has done. I have always tried to being balance to the article, and have really fought to keep the article in this light. IMO wikidea is not open to discussion about the article and basically told me to "go away" (being polite), in one of his posts on my talk page. I regret that the situation got to this. Other users have also questioned the neutrality of the article, and in such light I would be happy if a neutrality flag was activated on the article. --TheLogster (talk) 18:54, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Request for Peer Review help[edit]

Thank you for you work as a peer review volunteer. Since March, there has been a concerted effort to make sure all peer review requests get some response. Requests that have gone three days or longer without a substantial response are listed at Wikipedia:Peer review/backlog. I have three requests to help this continue.

1) If you are asked to do a peer review, please ask the person who made the request to also do a review, preferably of a request that has not yet had feedback. This is fairly simple, but helps. For example when I review requests on the backlog list, I close with Hope this helps. If my comments are useful, please consider peer reviewing an article, especially one at Wikipedia:Peer review/backlog (which is how I found this article). Yours, ...

2) While there are several people who help with the backlog, lately I have been doing up to 3 or 4 peer reviews a day and can not keep this up much longer. We need help. Since there are now well over 100 names on the PR volunteers page, if each volunteer reviewed just one PR request without a response from the list each month, it would easily take care of the "no response" backlog. To help spread out the load, I suggest those willing pick a day of the month and do a review that day (for example, my first edit was on the 8th, so I could pick the 8th). Please pick a peer review request with no responses yet, if possible off the backlog list. If you want, leave a note on my talk page as to which day you picked and I will remind you each month.

3) I have made some proposals to add some limits to peer review requests at Wikipedia_talk:Peer_review#Proposed_limits. The idea is to prevent any one user from overly burdening the process. These seem fairly reasonable (one PR request per editor per day, only four total PR requests per editor at a time, PR requests with cleanup banners can be delisted (like GAN quick fail), and wait two weeks to relist a PR request after it is archived), but have gotten no feedback in one week. If you have any thoughts on these, please weigh in.

Thanks again for your help and in advance for any assistance with the backlog. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 20:58, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your user page design[edit]

Hello, AndonicO. I recently created my own wiki called Wikirights. I have been looking for a page design that would suit the mainpage of my wiki. Guess what. Your page design has been chosen. I was trying to design it myself, but your user page is just way too conplicated for me to figure out. Can you design the mainpage of my wiki? I would greatly appreciate it. I would like the same colors. I don't want the images of course. I would like it formatted like 1 long one at the top (like your intro) and the same for the bottom. I would then like 2 of those pillars to the left, and 2 on the right. It should look like the following, but in your user page form:

=====================Top long Pillar==================
========Left Piller 1=========        =======Right Pillar 1=======
========Left Pillar 2=========        =======Right Pillar 2=======
======================Bottom long pillar================

I hope you understand what I mean. All you have to tell me how to change the name of the pillar, like yours says "Welcome" on your user page, I would like to know how to edit that. If you have any comments, please reply on my talk page. Regards, RyRy5 (talk) 08:35, 1 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello yet again. I regretfully inform you that the bot we were using to update the user status at Wikipedia:Highly Active Users, SoxBot V, was blocked for its constant updating. With this bot out of operation, a patch is in the works. Until that patch is reviewed and accepted by the developers, some options have been presented to use as workarounds: 1) Qui monobook (not available in Internet Explorer); 2) User:Hersfold/StatusTemplate; 3) Manually updating User:StatusBot/Status/USERNAME; or 4) Not worry about it and wait for the patch to go through, which hopefully won't take long. If you have another method, you can use that, too. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Useight (talk) 17:49, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Copyedit request[edit]

I see that you've helped copyedit some video game articles before, and I'm looking to get a good final ce for Crackdown, which has been looked by about 4-6 video game editors since it's been at FAC, but still is being requested for a copyedit. Do you think you could lead a hand? --MASEM 04:56, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Page protection[edit]

Thanks for your reply. The problem is, there may usually be only one edit per day; but on dozens of articles. So far today, editors have had to revert over 50 abusive edits by Runtshit sockpuppets. You refused semi-protection on six of these, all of which are vandalised once a day. RolandR (talk) 16:36, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Crysis Warhead[edit]

Thanks for your concern, I was in the middle of trying to find a way to get a message to editors about this. Kotaku (and I assume other sites) has the official press release from EA and Crytek, but I cannot link to it because I'm on a work computer that has Kotaku blocked and I'm using a proxy to read it. If you go to Kotaku I'm sure they have a link to the release. I also created a page and added information about it to the main Crysis article and was hoping someone would have noticed the release and added it before I can get home and add it myself. Thanks, sorry for not being able to add it the first time. ShadowUltra (talk) 17:33, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Page Protection[edit]

Accoding to WP:RFPP, you semi protected this page (unless I misunderstood) and gave the IP a final warning. The IP has again edited the page, I rolled it back and wanted to drop you a note. The IP has done far more than enough to get itself blocked in my opinion. Thanks, Dusticomplain/compliment 17:35, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, no need to protect for two weeks. It was linked to from Google's logo for only a day, so it is safe to unprotect it now. Gary King (talk) 00:53, 6 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
