Thanks for the welcome, I guess, but I've been using wikipedia and making small corrections for years now and I created my account 3 years ago... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kingturkey (talkcontribs) 09:25, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the Welcome

Hello Anna, I'm still feeling my way around, so it was great to get your message. Are you what Wikipedia calls a wikimentor?

cheers --Torquil Sorensen (talk) 11:10, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi! I always try to help new users, I don't know if that fits in the category "mentor", which reminds me of a great leader or so :-) Regards, Anna Lincoln (talk) 11:18, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

Timely Message

Hi Anna!

Thanks for your message. It's very timely as I have some specific questions regarding my first article at [1] which are detailed in the article's discussion page.

I've made a number of revisions and added references but not sure if I have improved the content. My goal is to have the Ambox Content notes removed.

If you could help me in this area with additional specific suggestions, it would greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Pete Rogers NYC (talk) 16:49, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi, Pete. Yes, of course you have improved the content; the article contained advertising and now it's more neutral. To further improve it and have the orange boxes removed, you can push it to a more neutral point of view, and add more reliable citations. Delicious carbuncle (talk · contribs) was the one who tagged the article with the boxes, so after your work, you can ask him to review his decission and consider if the boxes can be removed. I am not an expert on pornography, so unfortunately I can't give more detailed advice. Maybe you should contact somebody from WikiProject Pornography (member list here) to ask for more suggestions. (A WikiProject is a group of people interested in a subject). Regards. --Anna Lincoln (talk) 07:45, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Thank You for the Welcome Message!

Hello Anna! Thank you for your welcome message! In fact I registered in some 2004 and contributed since that time. Yet, amount of my contributions is very small :) It appeared that I'm more reader than writer yet I do plan some more contributions, not just minor edits. Anyway, I'm glad to have my talk page non-empty now and I really appreciate your personal attention to my edits! Thank you! --Mserge (talk) 09:16, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

You're welcome! There is no small contributor here :) See you. Anna Lincoln (talk) 09:18, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

Thanks as well, but I have no interest in ever making a wikipedia account 98.212.200.223 (talk) 08:21, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

Theatre Royal Brighton page

Hi Anna, Thanks for your message. Sorry I'm new so please excuse me if I'm doing this wrong, I coudn't work out how to send you a message! I work for the Ambassador theatre group, who own the theatre royal brighton and several other theatres. the company has just changed their website url, so I need to to update the wikkipedia entries so they are correct, I'm not trying to advertsise anything! Hope this is OK. Thanks boz1980 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Boz1980 (talkcontribs) 10:46, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

Flagged Revs

Hi,

I noticed you voted oppose in the flag revs straw pole and would like to ask if you would mind adding User:Promethean/No to your user or talk page to make your position clear to people who visit your page :) - Thanks to Neurolysis for the template   «l| ?romethea(n ™|l»  (talk) 07:05, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

Hi, Brett. Thanks for the suggestion, but I prefer not to use the template, because it's a very big floating template which is stuck on the corner and covers 300x120 screen pixels. Regards. --Anna Lincoln (talk) 08:22, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
Hi, Thanks for your reply, I have come prepared ;-), see User:Promethean/No2 for a less intrusive userbox   «l| ?romethea(n ™|l»  (talk) 08:25, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
Hey, yes you were prepared! :-) Unfortunately, although I voted oppose, my oppose is not strong enough to make me campaign against FlaggedRevs. I think the watchlist notice, which is neutral, suffices. See you. --Anna Lincoln (talk) 08:33, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
Hi, Thats ok, I would not want you to imply you had a strong stance flagged revs by using the template, if you infact didn't   «l| ?romethea(n ™|l»  (talk) 09:03, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

Papa vs Pretty Article

This article should not be deleted since the band has:

-received national radio airplay on several occaisions (Triple J). I have referenced the program list of one of the several occaisions on which they were played.

-had several independant and notable publications write articles about them. For a full list see: http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=85344314&blogID=460807500 in the 'reviews and links' section.

Thank You —Preceding unsigned comment added by KreepySpooks (talkcontribs) 08:53, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

Ok, the article will be tried and the community will decide whether to keep it or not. Go to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Papa vs Pretty and state your reasons for keeping the article there, so that everybody knows. --Anna Lincoln (talk) 08:55, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the Welcome message

Hi Anna, Thanks for the welcome message and useful links today. I think I had a vigorous start here in early 2008 and then spent some time doing research to improve articles that I never got an opportunity to update. But I still have all of my notes, and when I finish some other projects I hope to come back to my Wikipedia work. I've been deeply occupied over the past year helping to develop some international computing standards. Cheers! Jazzdanse (talk) 15:47, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

I didn't even know I had a talk page. Shows how much attention I pay... Jdfisher (talk) 17:52, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
It doesn't matter; you keep working on articles, and that's the most important task here; everything else is secondary. See you. --Anna Lincoln (talk) 08:54, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

Welcome Message - 'My userboxes'

Hey Anna,

Let me repeat what the others already previously said and thank you for your welcome as well. As I want to edit my homepage, I saw that other users add 'my userboxes', to identify their believes, activities or otherwise personal information. My question: Is there a 'vault' of userboxes to pick from; where can I find them? I tried searching them but had no luck. Thx so much for helping out. --JAKS1975 (talk) 07:20, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

Follow Up - I used the power of empowerement and did find the userbox information - Thx anyway --JAKS1975 (talk) 07:41, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

Sorry for the delay in answering your message. As you have surely guessed, you can find the catalogue at the bottom of WP:UBX. --Anna Lincoln (talk) 09:18, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

SWIFT Portal

Hi Anna, apparently (im new to this) you voted that my page SWIFT portal should be deleted? This portal was not intended (as you can read in the style of writing) as an advertisment. As for the UN, the SWIFT portal was created in the same spirit. SWIFT and the UN are cooperatives with the goal to facilitate the development and improvment of nations and in the case of SWIFT more specifically the financial industry as a whole. SWIFT was created by the national banks for the replacement of the unsecure telex (1970s) by a secure and reliable financial network that pretty much all major banks worldwide use today and currently if not mistaken more than 50% of financial institutions worldwide. The portal allows to correctly and accurately present SWIFT - a non profit organization designed as a cooperative.. The portal links primarily to the swift wikipedia page naturally for most information and presents other aspects of SWIFT too - e.g. Board of Directors (Major financial institutions) and what areas are SWIFT's primary focus (e.g. transfers used with the BIC code or SWIFT code - you must know this) just as the UN has linking to it subentities that deal with specific purposes, e.g warfare. This is not to say SWIFT is as large and important as the UN, but the same spirit - as an international political organisation - dominate it. Please explain under this circumstance how the portal is 'more like a advertissement'? If such is the feeling - please highlight what seems like an advertisement and what can be changed to present this information to the public? The only advertisment that SWIFT could benefit is for the public to know what infrastructre are the financial instituions relying on, especially in these days of crisis where the financial industry is severly crippled and questioned. This potentially (in a very large sense) can reassure people giving them a face to what is holding the financial community together. I look forward to your reply and possibly discuss how we can resolve this. Nicolas39 (talk) 13:01, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

I voted to delete Portal:SWIFT because, in my opinion, such narrow topic does not justify having a portal. I think that the SWIFT article itself, or at most a navigational template, would be sufficient. Maybe I am wrong because I am not an expert on the subject. Any case, if you feel that the portal should not have been deleted, and you are very sure about that, go ahead and file a deletion review for the deleted portal. I will not participate in the voting this time. You should also read Wikipedia:Deletion policy and Wikipedia:Why was my page deleted? before trying to recreate the page. --Anna Lincoln (talk) 15:23, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

Hi Anna, I put in a deleting review. Thanks. — [Unsigned comment added by Nicolas39 (talkcontribs).]

I was referred here by Nicolas39, but I can't really add anything to Anna's advice.--Aervanath (talk) 16:26, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
Cheers, Aervanath. --Anna Lincoln (talk) 16:31, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

I have tried to discuss with multiple admin who still believe that the topic is too narrow. However I have hard time understanding this as the UN has its portal and so does microsoft. Therefore how are we (a non-profit, non-commercial, development organisation for the financial community, who work with the UN CEFACT, ISO, and other standards organisations) are too narrow compared to the UN (a non-profit, non-commercial, political economic orgnaisation for the polictical community) and microsoft (a profit orientated, commercial grade company who dominates the computer OS software market). I find this very interesting and would be interested in receiving feedback from the admins who deleted the SWIFT portal. Thank you Nicolas39 (talk) 09:49, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

Hello. The portal was deleted here and the deletion was endorsed here. You can find there all the people who were involved in the process and ask them. As I said, I abstained in the deletion review. Regards. --Anna Lincoln (talk) 10:09, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

Deletion review for :{Portal:SWIFT

An editor has asked for a deletion review of :{Portal:SWIFT. Since you closed the deletion discussion for this page, speedy-deleted it, or otherwise were interested in the page, you might want to participate in the deletion review. Disambiguation help

Hey, thanks for the message. Your a lifesaver. I really need some help. If you go the page Sidetracked (novel) you'll see I'm trying to make a link at the top to the disambiguation page of Sidetracked, but I'm really struggling....could you help me out? Thanks! Cybersteel8 (talk) 12:02, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

I used otheruses, which is a more convenient template. See you, --Anna Lincoln (talk) 12:06, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for that. Just a quick question - is it necessary, on all the articles listed on the disambiguation page, to include a link back to the disambiguation page? Cybersteel8 (talk) 12:10, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

It is not compulsory, although it is very convenient since the reader of the article may be in fact looking for other similar article. --Anna Lincoln (talk) 12:13, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

I'm wondering why you tagged this for speedy A7, as there are a mountain of claims of notability in the article, and a quick Google search reveals that they can all be sourced and verified. CSD A7 is only for bands that make no claims of notability, so please be more careful when speedying in the future. Thanks, Lankiveil (speak to me) 12:26, 3 February 2009 (UTC).

You're welcome, lesson learnt, --Anna Lincoln (talk) 12:28, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

Hola

I see that you placed a speedy template on this and then removed it - I've put another one on because of the lack of contest (actually the whole thing looks made-up). Can I ask what was your reason for removing your own speedy? am I missing something? pablohablo. 21:51, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

It's because a week ago I tagged another article and I received a scolding for not being careful when placing speedy tags (see the message before this one, "Casette"). This time I placed the tag and wasn't sure about it after thinking it twice, so I decided to remove my own speedy. I should have said in the edit summary: "Not sure about this speedy tag placed here. Removing myself". Bye-bye. --Anna Lincoln (talk) 08:40, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
Thanks - it is difficult to assess these sometimes , but in this case it looks like your first decision was the right one! pablohablo. 09:25, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
No problem :-) From now on, I will not tag difficult ones. --Anna Lincoln (talk) 17:16, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
No - you should! They all have to be reviewed by an admin anyway. If you think that it fits the criteria for speedy deletion , go for it. It might then go to afd (and be deleted or not) but there always will be a second opinion. pablohablo. 21:29, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
Thank you very much for being so supportive with me. It's nice that you give me confidence to participate in the wikipedia process. See you. --Anna Lincoln (talk) 17:46, 14 February 2009 (UTC)

Me too

Thanks too from me for my welcome, Anna, and I've sent you a private email (via the facility which I found in the standard Wikipedia toolbox). Trafford09 (talk) 00:12, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

Hello, Trafford09. I don't have enough experience on Wikipedia to adopt users, but if you are interested, you can find other more experienced people who are looking for adoptees on Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User/Adoptee's Area. I welcomed you not because you made any mistake, but because I was patrolling the new changes page (Wikipedia:Recent changes patrol) and I noticed that you had made some good-quality edits and I decided to welcome you; it was not any edit in special, but all of them together (I didn't look into all of them, just some). I see no problem in using the talkpages to communicate; I don't read the email very often, so I prefer to use the talk pages, if you don't mind. Best wishes, --Anna Lincoln (talk) 09:12, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

Thanks & Question on Notability

Thanks for helping out with the Cabo San Roque article, Anna. I really appreciate your help. I've added an article from a secondary source to add notability. What should I do to add more notability? Thanks, Auranor (talk) 09:15, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

Hi, Auranor. Here are some ideas that you can use to improve the notability of the article:
 • If the band has hit some charts, say so and which.
 • If the band has been broadcasted by a media network, say which and when.
 • If it has appeared in a magazine or newspaper, say which and when.
 • If it has won any major contest or competition, say so.
You can read the bands notability guideline to get more ideas. Nevertheless, I have removed the notability tag at the top. Happy editing. --Anna Lincoln (talk) 09:32, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

Nice work on NPP

Hi. We all really appreciate all your work on NPP. It's usually thankless drudgery. Might I request that you leave a message for the folks who created the article on why it's being deleted as you nominate them? You can tag the page and leave a message for the author with two mouse clicks if you use WP:TW. Otherwise people sometimes get frustrated for not knowing what was going on and they often lash out at admins who come along and follow up on the CSD. Thanks! Toddst1 (talk) 08:41, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Okay, I will notify the authors from now on, thanks for the tip! I always accept suggestions to improve my contribution to Wikipedia. See you. --Anna Lincoln (talk) 08:45, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Read WP:Humor and WP:Attack to see why it was not acceptable. Sorry but I have no powers to undelete an article. I suggest that you write your article from scratch on your userpage, and then we can discuss if it is suitable for publication. --Anna Lincoln (talk) 15:40, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

Tagging for speedy deletion

Hi Anna Lincoln. Thank you for your work on patrolling pages and tagging for speedy deletion. I just wanted to inform you that I declined to delete Teenager (band), a page that you tagged for speedy deletion under criterion A7 because of the following concern: Having a notable band member is indication for notability of the band (compare WP:MUSIC#C6). In an act of shameless self-promotion, this essay might be helpful for future A7 taggings. Please review the criteria for speedy deletion and especially what is considered Non-criteria. In future you should rather tag such pages for proposed deletion or start an appropriate deletion discussion. Regards SoWhy 08:22, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Ok, thanks, I slipped up on this one. --Anna Lincoln (talk) 08:25, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi Anna,

Thanks for the welcome message I have been a casual user of Wikipedia for a while now, but I am hoping to become more active in the near future! It's a lot to take in and to learn but hopefully I will pick up some tricks as I go..

Again thanks for the encouragement!

Hi Anna,

Is there any quick way of finding articles that need citations? thanks Luke85 (talk) 16:02, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
Hello! Sorry for the delay. You can check categories Category:Articles with unsourced statements, Category:Articles with unsourced statements, Category:Articles lacking sources, Category:Articles needing additional references, to find articles without citations. The lists are very large, though. Regards. --Anna Lincoln (talk) 07:38, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

Message

Hey, I got a message from you a minute ago. I'm not really sure how to take it, as I have been a member of wikipedia for a while now. I have normally only made minor changes until a little bit ago, so I assume it was an honest welcome. At first, the links to the how-to's seemed to suggest that I did something wrong. I just wanted to clarify. Thanks! :) —un4v41l48l3 (talk) 08:32, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

No, you didn't do anything wrong. It's just that the link to your talkpage was red so I thought you had created your account recently, and I was giving you a welcome with links useful to new people. I see now that you have been around for a pair of years. Best wishes. --Anna Lincoln (talk) 08:38, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

You're welcome guy :-) See you --Anna Lincoln (talk) 08:46, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi, I noticed that you tagged this page for speedy deletion under criterion A7. While your tagging was not incorrect, I believe you should have used criterion G10 instead, as this is clearly a page created only to attack or disparage its subject. This also gives the creator a more stern warning than a simple notice saying their subject may not be notable. It is also likely to get faster administrator attention.

Keep in mind that attack pages should preferably also be blanked. Some tools, like Twinkle, does this automatically. decltype (talk) 11:10, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

I want to nominate The overmilk at AfD but I don't know how to do that. Could you please do it for me? Thanks. --The Legendary Sky Attacker 08:11, 15 May 2009 (UTC)

Hello. Currently The overmilk is nominated for speedy deletion (see the top of the article), so there's no need to bring it to AfD. If the author fails to give a valid reason to keep the article (which is very likely to happen, as the article is pure rubbish), it will be deleted soon. You can leave your opinion on the article's talk page if you feel it's necessary. Regards. --Anna Lincoln (talk) 08:18, 15 May 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the welcome. I spent like 5 minutes going back over my edits to see if I missed signing something :p Savonneux (talk) 10:08, 15 May 2009 (UTC)

Random Acts of Kindness Barnstar

The Random Acts of Kindness Barnstar
You deserve a Random Acts of Kindness Barnstar for welcoming me. I have been editing without logging in for years, and the pattern, since at least the Seigenthaler incident has been to treat "anons" with increasing suspicion, and fail to assume we're acting in good faith. Your welcome message is the first one I've gotten in perhaps three or four years. Protection policies continue to expand in use and complexity, and I can't count how many times a tool user has incorrectly challenged my contributions. The most recent hurdle I have had to spend time on is the Abuse filter (added in March), which has repeatedly reported false positives about my contributions. So it was a surprise to see you actually welcome me (and based on your contributions, other anons. Thanks again for your welcoming attitude. 72.244.203.114 (talk) 10:32, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
Oh my god, this is my first barnstar :-D I'm so grateful to you! I'm sorry that you were treated unfairly because you were an anonymous user. Getting an account helps be treated better, and allows all your contributions be tracked together no matter if you edit from different computers; but nevertheless, there are editors who don't want to create an account, mainly to preserve their anonymity. Whatever your choice be, I wish you an enriching experience here. Thanks a lot. --Anna Lincoln (talk) 10:49, 15 May 2009 (UTC)

help: "Turing machine" and "Entscheidungsproblem"

"Turing machine" belongs to Portal:Mathematics (and I think it's ok), but "Entscheidungsproblem" (that's related to "Turing machine" and starts with "In mathematics, the...." ) "belongs" only to Portal:Philosophy and while I don't know if it's related to Philosophy (or if it's an error -- I can say something only in the electronics/informatics engineering field), I'm pretty sure that it should be also into "Portal:Mathematics" (and I don't know what to do) [and *probably* sorry for some error in my English!] Ad88110 (talk) 11:08, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi, Ad88110. You can contact a member of WikiProject Philosophy (list here) and/or a member of WikiProject Mathematics (list here). A WikiProject is a group of users who are interested in a topic, and they also manage the related portal. Explain the problem to them and I'm sure they'll solve it. I'd like to fix the issue directly, but I'm not an expert on the matter. The lists are large, but you can read the descriptions and pick up somebody who is related to the concrete area of the topic. Good luck! --Anna Lincoln (talk) 11:19, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

Speedy nominations

Hey, when you're nominating an article for a speedy, please do not blank the content of the article. It's easier for admins to determine whether an article should be speedied if they can see the content right away. Thanks! --Ryan Delaney talk 08:48, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Ok, you're welcome. I probably got mixed up with db-attack, which urges to blank the article. Regards. --Anna Lincoln (talk) 08:54, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Hello from France !

First, you have to know that I'm french ant that I have a low level in english... So excuse me if I can't tell you all that I think in my mind ! I saw your message, and I'm very surprised because my links are done to help people :

- the blind

- those who are learning french

Indeed, the website I participate has a goal : to allow everyone to achieve at the joices of the literature. The website, an association, is totally free, the readers are voluntary and there is no commercial goal. We just want to benefit the most people possible around the world. I think Wikipedia and Littérature audio are "brother" and it would be a shame to not continue our collaboration (we have links on our website which bring to Wikipédia).

See you soon !

Kindly,

Vincent —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tourneprof (talkcontribs) 09:16, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi, Vincent. All what you said is very fair. Helping handicapped people is very adequate. I wish you success with your website and at Wikipedia as an editor. Nevertheless, bear in mind that posting links from a lot of articles to your website is considered spam, because it seems that you want to use Wikipedia to promote the website. The problem is aggravated if you own or work for the website, because then it's self-promotion. I suggest that you read our guidelines Wikipedia:Spam and Wikipedia:External links to judge if the links you are inserting are adequate. Greetings from Spain! --Anna Lincoln (talk) 09:27, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi Anna ! :)

Thank you for your answer, I well understand what you tell me. I understand my numerous links to this website can be a problem. In fact, I don't hide that I work for this website (I have some audiobooks from me), I want to be clear on that. I find it's more sincere (sincerer ?) that make insert the links by somebody else (I noticed it was often like that on Wikipédia...). Short, I assume to insert the links by myself, it's honnester. If I didn't it, there were no links at all. And yet, the goal is to allow the most big number of people around the world to discover literature. After, I know there are strict rules on Wikipédia, but frankly I think the links I insert are legitimate. I want to insist on the legitimate character of the links, I think it has to be the first criteria to judge the external links's pertinence. I'm open to discuss how to limitate and to select now the number and the "quality" of the links.

Hasta pronto ! (me gustà mucho el espanol :) )

Vincent

Ps. I saw Albert Camus on your front page... I adore this autor (most of all "La Chute") —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.80.18.97 (talk) 17:16, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Ok, but beware that other editors may express the same concerns as me regarding your external link additions. I have read Camus' "The Stranger" and "The Plague". I also speak some French: Je parle aussi un peu de Francais. --Anna Lincoln (talk) 07:43, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

Bien cordialement,

Vincent —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tourneprof (talkcontribs) 09:21, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

Vincent, I ask you to translate the above paragraph into English, so that all English wikipedians can understand what you wrote, because we are on the English Wikipedia. Please use always English for your communications on the English Wikipedia. Thanks and regards. --Anna Lincoln (talk) 09:26, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

Ok, no problem. So the translation : Indeed, I would be curious to know the opinion of others English-speaking "wikipedians". I'm ready to have talks in order to reach to find an agreement. Concerning Albert Camus, I discoverd him at the secondary school with "The Stranger", it was a revelation for me. This author openend me my eyes on the world, and it's largely thanks to him (and also thanks to Guy de Maupassant) that I wanted to implicate me on this website.

Warmly,

Vincent —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.80.18.97 (talk) 08:55, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

This user created a similar article to the one you just tagged for speedy deletion. Duma.catalin. This user also has a history of unconstructive edits. I think administrator attention is appropiate for this user. --The Legendary Sky Attacker 10:20, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Altered Speedy Deletion rationale: Michael krikorian

Hello Anna Lincoln, and thanks for your work patrolling new changes. I am just informing you that I have deleted a page you tagged (Michael krikorian) under a different criteria, because the one you provided was inappropriate or incorrect. CSD criteria are narrow and specific, and the process if more effective if the correct deletion rationale is supplied. Consider reviewing the criteria for speedy deletion If you have any queries, please let me know. Thanks again! Ale_Jrbtalk 09:31, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

Ok, no problem, I will review the criteria again. --Anna Lincoln (talk) 09:33, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Ervadi dargah

Hello Anna, Erwadi is called by various names and spellings like, Ervadi, Erwadi dargah, Erwadi dargha, Ervadi Dargah, Ervadi Dargha, Erwadi Darha, etc., so i am just trying to link all those keywords for the article Erwadi. What should i do to link a single article with various names?  — [Unsigned comment added by Wasifwasif (talkcontribs) 03:27, June 3, 2009.]

I suggest that you create a section called "Alternative names" in the article Erwadi, and then you explain all the alternative names there. I don't think that each of these names deserves an article on its own. Regards. --Anna Lincoln (talk) 08:32, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the Welcome!

Hi Anna. Appreciate the suggested pages to check out. Will do. I've had difficulty (mostly out of impatience!) figuring out the whole "transcluded" bit and the box with "This documentation is transcluded from User:Higgledeepiggledee/Minerva Carcaño/doc. (edit | history)" in it. Any hints on how I managed to get that in there -- and better yet, how to remove it? Any leads would be helpful. Thanks, Higgledeepiggledee (talk) 18:03, 4 June 2009 (UTC)Higgledeepiggledee

That little green box appears because you (accidentally) created the page User:Higgledeepiggledee/Minerva Carcaño/doc. To remove the green box, that page must be deleted. To delete it, place the tag db-userreq at the top of it (User:Higgledeepiggledee/Minerva Carcaño/doc). An admin will come around to delete it. After that, the green box will have vanished. (I can't place the tag for you because it must be placed by the creator of the page). Best wishes. --Anna Lincoln (talk) 07:24, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

Hello Anna! Thanks for the friendy welcome, I've really been enjoying editing pages on Wikipedia. Sorry for the late reply, I was in the hospital, I cut myself with a piece of glass. Sliced my thumb's Tendon. (Yay, a Wikipedia entry!)

Oh no, that is a bad cut, I'm so sorry. A cut tendon needs suture. I wish it heals soon. See you :-) --Anna Lincoln (talk) 20:47, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
Yep, it was sutured at the hospital. I'm unable to move my thumb at the moment, so I hope it'll heal nicely. :-D Byebye Lonaowna (talk) 09:45, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

Question! =)

Hey Anna, I've been happily using Wikipedia since your nice welcome message, but I've got a little question, and since you so nicely offered to help me, here it is: On one page, there's a lot of vandalism going on. I've just been reverting all the changes (manually, a lot of work without rollback rights =P), but some guys keep coming and posting crap. What should I do? Is there some way to put this on record? (I believe you can't manually add stuff to someone's AbuseLog?) Or should I just keep reverting 'till they stop or until it becomes so bad that I have to report them?

Thanks!, Lonaowna (talk) 08:39, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

Hello fellow Lonaowna! :) Yes, there is a solution to the vandalism problem. You can report persistent vandals to Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. But before reporting, the user must have been given enough warnings on their talkpage, escalating from the mildest to the strongest. To give warnings on the talkpage of the vandal, you can use the predefined templates , , and secuentially (you use first 1, then 2, then 3, then 4). After the fourth warning has been given, you can go to "Administrator intervention against vandalism" and say for example:
 • IP address vandalized after final warning ~~~~
 • username vandalized after final warning ~~~~
You use IPvandal or Vandal depending on if the user is anonymous (e.g. 123.123.123.123) or a registered user. You can find the complete list of warnings at Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace. The list is huge but the most important messages are the "uw-vandalism" ones.
To summarize:
 • You find somebody vandalized a page. You post on their talkpage ("Article" is the name of the vandalized article).
 • The user continues to vandalize the same or other article(s). You post on their talkpage.
 • The user vandalizes again. You post on their talkpage.
 • The user continues vandalizing. You post on their talkpage.
 • The user vandalizes for the fifth time. You post a report to "Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism". An admin will come around to block him.
See for example the talkpage of a user that was warned several times, then a report was issued, and then the user was blocked: User_talk:131.109.81.223.
I hope all this helps you. Ask me again if you have doubts. --Anna Lincoln (talk) 09:13, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
Thanks a lot Anna! That's really useful =) --Lonaowna (talk) 11:44, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
