Civility[edit]

Hi,

Please try to maintain civility even in the face of frustration. Thanks! WLU 18:31, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Okay, guess I was indeed a bit frustrated. I'll try to maintain civility next time ;). Anoko moonlight 12:51, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not saying it's easy or that I've done so myself. I'm just asking please :) If you manage to do so, let me know how. Personally, I use a bobo doll, a picture and weighted boxing gloves. Everyone goes through it at least once I think. WLU 13:07, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Names of articles about companies[edit]

Hi, Please see WP:NAME#Companies: "the legal status of a company is not normally included" unless needed for disambiguation. Note that articles about other companies such as Microsoft, IBM, Dell, and Sun Microsystems all follow this guideline.

As a rule, I would be cautious about moving articles unless you're absolutely sure it's the right thing to do, because although the move itself is easy enough, it's the one kind of Wikipedia "edit" that can sometimes be very difficult to undo (having to do with whether the redirect left in place has itself been edited yet). This would be the kind of thing I'd bring up for discussion before actually doing it. I haven't checked to see yet if this will be a problem with Silicon Graphics, but I would definitely be on the side of moving this back to the earlier name.

C/C++ comments[edit]

Hi, can you elaborate on the edit here? You can see at C_syntax#Comments that "/* ... */" is called "C-style" whereas "// ..." is called "C++-style", and the SQL article is talking about comments in the "/* ... */" form. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Power piglet (talkcontribs) 21:48, 2 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Power piglet, sorry about that, you're right. I must have confused /* and //. Thanks for paying attention! anoko_moonlight (talk) 09:45, 3 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

SQL[edit]

Hi, who are Donald C. Messerly and Daniel Richardson and what are their relation to SQL? You undid my change when I tried to attribute the CORRECT authors of SQL (Donald D Chamberlin and Raymond Boyce). Please justify. Also SQL was infact NOT patented by IBM in 1985 -- please provide a correct citation for this if you believe this to be true. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Spectrum266 (talkcontribs) 21:25, 11 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
