A barnstar for you![edit]

The Anti-Vandalism Barnstar
Thanks for your anti-vandalism work on Erana James Justiyaya (talk) 14:42, 6 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This image is a copyright violation uploaded to Commons. Please stop attempting to add it to Erana James. Thank you, --Hammersoft (talk) 15:26, 6 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Re: your edit. First, I know you're new to Wikipedia, and that was your first edit to a talk page, so a learning opportunity; when you make comments on someone's talk page, you should do so by clicking on the "new section" tab on the talk page. This starts a new section for your comments. You should do this is you are initiating a new discussion with someone. Otherwise, comments should go in the appropriate section to the discussion of the topic. As to the image; no, we can't put the image back. The image is a clear, unequivocal copyright violation. We do not permit copyright violations on this project. Further, we do not accept copyrighted, non-free images of living people for depiction purposes, per Wikipedia:Non-free_content_criteria #1. If you have any other questions, let me know. Thanks, --Hammersoft (talk) 15:40, 6 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Re: [1]; Thanks for following my instruction on how to start a new discussion. Since we're already having a discussion here, we can keep our discussion together here. Yes, I understand it is a photograph of her. That doesn't automatically mean we get to include it here. We accept images of living (she is living) people for depiction purposes (i.e., in the infobox as was the use here) only when that image is demonstrably available under a free license. This is most emphatically not the case with this particular image, as it is blatantly a copyright violation. Our WP:NFCC policy, specifically point #1, does not allow us to use non-free images when we can expect to get a free replacement. Per Foundation:Resolution:Licensing policy, we do not accept non-free images of living people in almost all cases. That's why we can't accept this image here. Sorry. --Hammersoft (talk) 16:15, 6 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

that image has been there for a year and is in The internet Ara12222 (talk) 16:25, 6 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

and is in Wikimedia Ara12222 (talk) 16:27, 6 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Just because it's available somewhere on the Internet does not mean its available under a free license. We take copyright very seriously here. Unless you can prove the image is available under such a license, such as CC BY-SA 4.0, it can not be included on the Erana James article. --Hammersoft (talk) 16:37, 6 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

is written licenseable in the photo, just wanted her to have a picture, even because the actress herself has seen the photo and did nothing but it's okay if you don't want to add the photo. Ara12222 (talk) 16:56, 6 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • I do want to add a photo. But, I want to add one that is provably free, not one that is taken without permission and without a free license, which is the case here. --Hammersoft (talk) 18:03, 6 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
