Hello Professor! My plans are to make an appointment with Archives in the library. I am also planning a course of action for what I want to focus the Wikipedia page on. Hpepin (talk) 19:54, 14 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Awesome, Hpepin! Arrotramel (talk) 19:55, 14 September 2016 (UTC) Hi Professor, my plans are to make an appointment with the ladies in the library and make a plan for the rest of the semester. I am also going to try to figure out how to use wikipedia better. Vanessacushing (talk) 19:59, 14 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! I noticed you created Trans Day of Action and moved it to mainspace. However, I have some concerns about the article. First of all, you have not cited any independent, 3rd party sources; just the Audre Lorde Project's website and an interview with someone, and it's not clear who because you only cited the 3rd page of that document. Second, there's a lot more information you could include to make the article more informative. For example, the article asserts that the Trans Day of Action is an annual occurrence, but it doesn't say how long it's been happening; when was the first one? How many people take part? Has it spread beyond New York? As the article stands, it's a stub that does not demonstrate notability. If you cite some 3rd party sources and expand it some, it'll be a much better article and more likely to avoid deletion. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 17:45, 8 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the input, I will work on cleaning up the citation and including news coverage. Arrotramel (talk) 22:28, 8 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I moved the article to draft space, since it’s not ready for main article space yet. It reads as a curriculum vitae, the list of published works should be more selective and proper nouns get a capital letter. Please use the articles for creation process. Thanks. Thank you for your input. doris davenport doesn't capitalize her name - that is not error. The publications are representative of her work as a scholar and poet. I will add more content in the biographical section, but I would argue that as is this entry merits existing as a stub.

I've done some work on the categories. I've also made some formatting changes, but some of it (the bullet points, for instance) is more a matter of personal taste than anything else. I've also peppered the article with links - to her hometowns and to her alma maters.

A handful of recommendations:

  • I'd add a couple more citations - one to the paragraph about her education and one to the quote describing her writing approach
  • For stubs: instead of manually adding the stub category, look at using stub tags (like the two I've put on the article right now)
  • Add a separate header for reference sections
  • Workslists are better handled as separate subheaders under a broader header, like I've done here
  • For sorting: even if she uses lowercase letters in spelling her name, when putting the DEFAULTSORT template in I'd use regular capitalization; otherwise it might screw with the category syntax. And it doesn't make a difference to the way the actual article is displayed. Similarly, don't use diacriticals with the template; it messes with the syntax again. (In other words, a hypothetical writer called "cecilia peña" should still DEFAULTSORT as "Pena, Cecilia".)

I think that covers all my recommendations. But the bare bones are great - it's just the little tinkering under the hood that needs work. I'll also add a hatnote to the other Doris Davenports to make sure people find the right one.

Happy editing! If you have other questions, please don't hesitate to ask - I'm more than happy to provide assistance. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 17:54, 1 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Well-sourced article for a living poet. It would be improved if we have some dates related to when this poet was active, born, and the like.
