September 2015[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Amaury. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Aruba Networks, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Arubanetworks1. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Aruba Networks, you may have a conflict of interest. People with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, see the conflict of interest guideline and frequently asked questions for organizations. In particular, please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, its competitors, or projects and products you or they are involved with;
  • instead, propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use require disclosure of your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing, and autobiographies. Thank you. Amaury (talk) 23:29, 14 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. Thank you. -- Ed (Edgar181) 14:42, 15 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Requested username:

Request reason:

Web Developer for Aruba Networks, an HP company. Wanted to make a username all Aruba web devs could use, but changing to a personalized username. Arubanetworks1 (talk) 20:01, 15 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Feel free to make this request again, but please understand that Wikipedia accounts are for the use of individuals; we don't allow shared accounts or role accounts. You should also look carefully at our conflict of interest guidelines. --jpgordon::==( o ) 20:04, 15 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

New, individual username! Arubanetworks1 (talk) 20:14, 15 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Not convinced that your goals here are entirely non-promotional. Max Semenik (talk) 00:16, 17 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

After reviewing your edits, they appear to be very promotional. Here are a few key questions:

You are currently blocked because your username appears directly related to a company, group or product that you have been promoting, contrary to the username policy. Changing the username will not allow you to violate the 3 important principles above.Kuru (talk) 01:25, 16 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • I would also like to ask: if you are unblocked, how do you plan on contributing to Wikipedia? Would you agree to either not trying to create an article for your business or only trying to create it via WP:AfC? Also, would you be willing to go through one of the training programs as a sign of good faith, either WP:TRAINING or WP:ADVENTURE? The first one does not require you to be signed into an active account, but the former will show that you have went through the training process. I am only trying to update the Aruba Networks Wikipedia page to reflect accurate information. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Arubanetworks1 (talkcontribs) 17:17, 16 September 2015‎ (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps, but what you've actually done is cut-and-pasted marketing material from, for instance, http://www.arubanetworks.com/assets/so/SO_ArubaInstantWiFi.pdf. That's exactly the sort of promotional edits we don't need and don't want. --jpgordon::==( o ) 17:28, 16 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ah. I understand. If I remove those links, will my name be changed and unblocked? I can't remove those links with my account blocked, can I? I will go through the adventure training! Arubanetworks1 (talk) 16:59, 17 September 2015 (UTC)lright1[reply]

Welcome to The Wikipedia Adventure![edit]

Hi Arubanetworks1! We're so happy you wanted to play to learn, as a friendly and fun way to get into our community and mission. I think these links might be helpful to you as you get started.

I've tried starting the Adventure Training, but I cannot continue with a blocked account. Arubanetworks1 (talk) 20:51, 17 September 2015 (UTC)lright1[reply]

Create another {{unblock}} request, similarly how you've done so twice before. 80.222.34.157 (talk) 16:37, 26 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
