Image tagging for Image:Wallis Bird.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Wallis Bird.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

Unspecified source for Image:Keiraknightley.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Keiraknightley.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yamla 01:55, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

Copyrighted images

Movie posters may not be used to depict the person illustrated, only to illustrate the movie in question or to provide critical commentary on the poster itself. Additionally, all copyrighted images must have a detailed fair-use rationale justifying their use. --Yamla 01:55, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

Fair use rationale on my images

You said: "Having read what you said about the Keira Knightley image, and agreed with you, I now find that you have put various warnings and requests for fair use rationales on all images I(Basement12) have uploaded, even when it is clear that the image is allowed (such as album covers). To be honest I don't agree with the fact you have done this without offering any help to an inexperienced user who has simply been trying to improve the quality of these articles, many of which I have started. Although a few of the images may not be allowed I suspect the majority are, however because of the way this has been done (it seems you have a track record for this kind of thing)I have lost any intrest in fixing the problems and therefore will allow you to either sort it or delete them as I no longer care"

I am truly sorry you feel that way. I suspect it is probably too late now but I'm more than happy to help you out with the image copyright and fair-use issues. I didn't want to add any more warnings to your page for fear of you thinking I was targeting you. But I understand how you could get that impression anyway. --Yamla 02:09, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

You said: "Its not too late, if you could explain what I need to do, particularly for cd covers as despite looking at many such images I've seen none of what you ask for, it would help both for these and any future uploads. I did make an attempt for Branches Untangle which hopefully you could find in the history, is this the kind of thing?"

I believe you are referring to this edit. That's very close. Album covers are almost given a free pass on fair-use rationales. You have identified the specific article the image is being used in. The only thing I'd add is, "It is being used to illustrate the cover of the album in question." Then, make sure you've identified which album you are talking about (this is often already given by which article you are linking in). One key point, though, which I don't think you've done; you cannot use an album cover to depict the person. For example, an album cover showing Hilary Duff's face can only be used to depict the album, not to illustrate what Hilary Duff looks like. If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask. --Yamla 03:00, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

You said: "Sorry to bother you but your the only administrator i've had any dealings with. On the above page, that I have been mostly responsible for editing, someone has added a "citation needed". It appears after the name of the personthe article is on and I was just wondering if it is really neccessary to provie proof of the guys name? Your input would be appreciated"

Well, I don't think it requires a citation. Has anyone ever disputed that this is actually his birth name? --Yamla 16:12, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

Image:Playboy cover.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Playboy cover.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ----RobthTalk 02:56, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Maria Sharapova.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Maria Sharapova.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Jonny_gould.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Calliopejen1 08:04, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

Liam McMenamin

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Liam McMenamin, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Liam McMenamin.
